The Life in the Blood: Book 1 – In the Shadow of Eden by Scarlett Vayne
In the beginning, God commanded: “The life of the flesh is in the blood—and it is for Me alone.”
One man defied Him.
Amel—later Amaury Valois—tasted the forbidden and became the First. Cursed by divine light to weakness in the sun, blessed with immortality in darkness, he birthed a bloodline of Pureborn predators who drink not for sustenance, but for power, beauty, and raw, orgasmic ecstasy. Over millennia they conquered the night, forging an empire of shadow through incest, ritual murder, and unholy pacts with the Devil himself.
Now, in 2025–2026, the seven remaining Pureborn rule from light-proof fortresses beneath the world’s greatest cities. They own governments, banks, cartels, and religions. Their Flesh Pens are palaces of willing and broken slaves, where every feeding is penetrative, venom-laced sex that turns agony into addiction.
When Amaury chooses brilliant hematologist Dr. Selene Harper—her ancient bloodline echoing the virgin he murdered at the dawn of vampirism—to bear the ultimate heir, the endgame begins. Kidnapped, violated, and systematically shattered by fangs and unrelenting pleasure, Selene descends from defiant scientist to devoted vessel, begging for the cock and blood that remake her.
But Heaven stirs.
Archangels Michael and Gabriel, bound by the Creator’s law of free will, awaken the descendants of the righteous—forging a new generation of Templars armed with holy light, blessed relics, and faith-fueled spells to resist the darkness.
As the heir is born in a ritual of a hundred screaming sacrifices, the war between light and shadow ignites in brutal skirmishes across the globe. Templar blades burn Pureborn flesh. Seduction and venom corrupt the faithful. Betrayals fracture the family from within.
This is no love story. There are no good vampires. Only blood, cum, power, and the eternal scream of prey that learns to crave the predator.
The Life in the Blood is extreme dark erotic horror: explicit, blasphemous, and utterly unrepentant. Evil does not merely survive—it fucks, feeds, and rules.
Reader discretion is meaningless. Enter the darkness if you dare.

Holy hell, this book wrecked me—in the best way I’ve read a ton of dark vampire stuff, but nothing has ever hit me like The Life in the Blood. Scarlett Vayne doesn’t hold back at all. These aren’t your sparkly, brooding immortals—the Pureborn are straight-up evil, ancient, gorgeous predators who get off on power, blood, and sex that’s so intense it literally rewires people. Amaury is terrifying and magnetic, and watching Selene go from this fierce, brilliant scientist to someone completely...
