This duet completely wrecked me in the best way. Beneath the fantasy, the rot, and the curse, this story is really about grief, love, and what people are willing to sacrifice for the ones they can’t bear to lose. Such a beautiful dark love story & a sad but lovely take a death. I saw some people complaining that both books should have been combined to 1 but I loved that it was broken into 2 parts. I feel like it gave the story more of an impact. The way we look at death can be so complicated and this duet just told a different story of death so well. Just a heads up the ending will destroy you! I absolutely adored the relationship between Elara and Vale. The way it progressed so traumatic and heartwarming at the same time. To see how Vale emotionally develops made me grow “heartstrings.” It had just the right amount of spice and in the right spots throughout the story. I do wish there would have been more about Elara’s mother towards the end. I would have liked to learn her ending. I enjoyed how her and Vale’s relationship developed. I...
