Crown Me Dead: A Dark Fantasy Romance (Heartstring Duet)

Talon says the most horrible thing—that he doesn’t expect to survive the war.
It’s an outcome I don’t want to consider. My whole life has been an endless reign of suffering until I found him. He was the one who caused this misery—but he’s also the one that healed it. Happiness is a terrifying joy, because once you have it, all you can think about is the moment you lose it.
It’s been decades since Talon has been to the Southern Isles, the place that had been his home for most of his life. Ethan says the place has changed, that the citizens are locked inside the kingdoms, that sailors can’t get into port without an inspection, that the people are starving from a mysterious plague.
Before the battle can commence, we need to know what we’re up against, so I volunteer to enter the castle as a maid and report everything I know. I’m not there for a week before I see that Barron is exactly the swine that Talon says he is. It’s there that I discover a horrid list of truths.
It’s there that I discover the Southern Isles have been destroyed by a dictator, and Barron is already prepared for war—because he knows exactly who the Death King is.

adventurous dark emotional reflective sad medium-paced Plot- or character-driven?A mix Strong character development?Yes Loveable characters?Yes Diverse cast of characters?Yes Flaws of characters a main focus?Yes 4.75 This world of dragons, Bahamut, Rivana, elves, and humans was a fantastic series, and its conclusion was epic. The Dragon Queen is a story in itself, covering so much. Because it is a continuation, you will need to read the rest of the series; however, this conclusion had so much...

Loved everything about this ending of a drawn out series! Everything except...Shardnada? Seriously? You did all that and couldn't come up with a better name? I enjoyed reading these books and it was a well thought out story with good character and world building. I consider this a gem among new romance 💒 )

This series of Talon and Calista are unbelievable and worth every page. It is some thing I wasn't sure about when I started, but couldn't stop reading. Once I did the personalities and characters are each their own, and she writes brilliantly the story as it evolves, but going back-and-forth from the past to the present, which adds an extra bonus, to know some of the prior events of the past, and how they effect the present, the hatred of Talon and Calista, in the beginning, was not...

I was hooked from the very beginning! Khazmuda’s deep, unwavering love for Talon—and Talon’s bond with Calista—was beautifully written and emotionally powerful. The plot was engaging, the character development was on point, and the relationships felt so real. Talon gave me major Xaden Riorson vibes, and honestly? I am wholeheartedly here for it. The dynamic between the characters made me laugh out loud more than once, but this particular installment? It wrecked me. The way the author wrote...

I love this series. Beautiful relationships exploring redemption, vengeance, guilt/survivors guilt, forgiveness, friendship, love, the crippling pain of grief/loss, and coping with the ramifications of bad choices made during times of poor mental health family, growth, sacrifice, letting go, honor, conscience, trust, and some good ol’ sweet sweet lovin’. 😉 Steamy, but definitely demonstrates the growth and at times detachment of MMC/MFC. Very satisfying HEA. Can’t wait to read the next...
