Shannon in Sombra (Sombra Demons Book 8)

by Sarah Spade

About this book

What’s this about a prophecy?

So… I’m a mom now.

It’s so hard to believe that years have passed since I bought that grimoire from Kennedy’s store and summoned Malphas into my apartment. Or that, as a Sombra demon’s one true mate, I was knocked up for more than two years before we had our baby girl.

One small problem. Just as I gave birth in Mal’s demon village, Duke Haures—the big shot ruler of Sombra itself—decided to leave his fancy capital city, gracing us with his presence.

Why? Because, turns out, those freaky demon twins had a vision that the birth of the first demon-human kid would either end their world—or save it.

That’s a lot to put on the shoulders of anyone, not to mention a baby a couple of hours old. They can’t tell me how or why, either, but it doesn’t matter. Until the prophecy thing is all cleared up, it looks like Shannon Crewes is living in Sombra full-time now.

I’ve never spent much time in Mal’s world before. With our kid’s safety on the line, I’ll do what I have to—and anyone who tries to break up my family is going to wish they never crossed this feisty human chick.

For anyone who misses seeing Malphas and Shannon together, who wants to learn about their baby or see what life is like for them years after the first book... this one is for you. It’ll have humor, suspense, adventure, and heat, all while readers get to experience Sombra through Shannon's eyes -- while also seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and showing that their HEA was only the beginning of their story—and, as the final book in the series, this is the end.

Loved it

Malphas and Shannon's closing story to the series was great. I loved how the writer c!owed all the loose ends. The way all the characters interacted and worked together was entertaining and loved how it ended. Definitely a recommended series and looking forward to the prequel! )

Quick read, fast storyline

I’ve read this series and was expecting a tidy wrap up of all characters. Although I really liked the Shannon character in the first book, Mated to the Monster, in this one she grates on my nerves. She was feisty and funny in the first book, but here I was not sympathetic to her plight, she just seemed demanding and pushy. The story was a bit uneven at times with the other characters, but overall it was a good read. ) One person found this helpful

Perfect ending

Wow now I'm wondering if there's more to the story to come? I loved how she brought it all together and I'm surprised the father wasn't punished. But all's well that ends well! )

More on Shannon, Mal, and baby Alana

This is book eight and re-features the couple Mal and Shannon. As we pick up from the last book, the couple just became parents of new baby Alana. Mal chose this name to honor a previous Queen Alana, who was strong and powerful. There is a prophecy that the first half human -half sombran child will cause the end of the world. All the couples participate in this book. It took me a while to become accustomed to this book due to the way that the storytelling happened. Shannon is the commentator...
