Shadows of the Forgotten Shore: An Irish Ghost Story

by Angela R Hughes

About this book

When Nora was twelve, her father tore her away from her beloved Irish coastal home, leaving her with only bitterness and the memories of Carraig Brón. Ten years later, her mother’s death pulls her back to the windswept cliffs of Ireland—a place she once called home.

But Carraig Brón has changed. Strange winds whisper her name. Her grandparents’ empty house reveals a dark family curse. The Celtic demon Balor and the sinister Sluagh, no longer mere legends, now hunt her, just as they did her gran and mother.

Caught between Declan, her childhood best friend who’s waited years to confess his feelings, and the mysterious Landon, who harbors secrets of his own, Nora must unravel the truth of her family’s past. As danger closes in, she must confront her grief and face her deepest fears—or risk losing everything.

Shadows of the Forgotten Shore is a haunting blend of romance, mystery, and supernatural horror set against the breathtaking backdrop of Ireland’s rugged coastline.

What a wonderful spooky and sweet story about forgiveness. Hughes made me want to be in the seaside Irish village of Carraig Brón SO badly. I felt like I was really there. The foggy, windy vibes were absolute perfection. Grab a cozy blanket and warm drink for this one! Nora’s emotions are all too relatable as she grieves and harbors bitterness that feels completely justified. She drops everything to return to her coastal Irish roots, where things get spooky real fast. As she reconnects with old...

At times it even got my heart rate up. I liked how real the world was and how compelling the characters were. It felt like a true story with all the little details. Made me really think about the bitterness we can carry inside of us and the importance of letting go. Great closure in the end, despite the scary themes and challenges...
