Because this very much felt like a remake of Katee Robert's A Worthy Opponent with a mega dash of her The Beast, both from her Wicked Villains Series. Lillian Lark's Deceived by The Gargoyles and Entranced By The Basilisks were 2 of the first romantasy novels that I read when I began to traverse the magical land of romance.
