About this book

Brina Marley had it all figured out.

A skilled therapist working for the Catholic Church, she specialized in diagnosing possible cases of possession. Until tragedy strikes and her trusted partner and friend dies suddenly. Despite the official reports, it’s looking like it was no accident.

Jobless and searching for answers, Brina’s life takes a sharp turn when a mysterious stranger appears at the funeral, offering her both a new opportunity and the answers she’s been desperate to find. But those answers plunge her into a darker conspiracy than she could ever prepare for.

As her connection with her new partner deepens, Brina must decide if she can trust the man who holds the key to everything, even as his own haunted past reveals a dangerous link to the mysterious events surrounding her partner’s death.

Revised Edition (April 2025): This version has been carefully re-edited for improved clarity, pacing, and reader experience while preserving all the original intensity, intrigue, and emotional depth. Thank you to the readers who’ve joined Brina on this journey.

Amazing debut novel by Carmen Whittemore! Intrigue, steamy romance and excorcisms are not something you find in a book every day. Great read and I look forward to the next book! )

Romantic and Chilling!

Perfect for the spooky season. A little bit of The Exorcist, and the Possession. With a very sexy male witch who supports our wonderfully clever psychologist as she finds herself being pulled deeper into a supernatural world, filled with Magick, Coffee and Mystery. )

Fun and quick read

It's a fun little romp with a little bit of everything: drama, romance, humor, action, etc. )

Really good read!

Really enjoyed this read. This was my first paranormal romance as I’m usually a romantasy girly, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it! Solid story, perfect amount of spice, and any miscommunication between the main characters was sorted out quickly (because let’s be honest it’s frustrating when that gets dragged on because like hello just talk to each other). Can’t wait for the next book! )

Well-Rounded Read

The author, Carmen Whittemore, does a fantastic job of character building so the reader becomes invested. She writes mystery into the storyline to keep you guessing in multiple aspects. The spiciness is enough to intrigue, but not so much to intimidate, and the internal monologue of the main charter is so relatable there are moments you're tempted to laugh out loud. Overall a surprising complex story (especially compared to other books in the romance genre), and waiting patiently for book 2. )
