Crown Me Dead: A Dark Fantasy Romance (Heartstring Duet)
Liv Zander
by Reno R. Mist
I want to be hunted…but not by just anyone. No – it must be by the monster I have secretly craved.
Chase me.
Devour me.
Take what is already yours.
I know I shouldn’t speak these desires aloud, but I’ve longed for this – to be the heroine sprinting through a moonlit forest, breathless and trembling, pursued by something dark enough to unmake me.
When I uncovered the rumor buried in a forgotten academic footnote, I knew I would come here. A secret invitation. An unholy promise. If this is what I want, why not indulge?
I will be the prey.
All I need now is the hunter waiting in the forest.
Captured Prey: A Primal Play Novella is part of the Second Circle Entry series, told in third-person POV. Each story explores desire, inhibition, and awakening in richly sensual worlds. Often pairing mortals with monsters, love and hunger intertwine as things that go bump in the night steal your heart…and possibly your soul.
Seductive. Sinister. What are you waiting for?
Readers who enjoy Scarlett St. Clair, Carissa Broadbent, Allie Oleander, Laura Thalassa, Cassie Alexander, Layla Fae, Sylvia Mercedes, and other dark romantasy authors — especially lovers of high heat chemistry, alpha monsters, and dark fantasy romance — will find themselves right at home.
This spicy, primal novella can be read as a standalone and features a tall, dark, and handsome Slavic deity, a 35+ gutsy academic mortal, and a pulse-racing chase that ends in a sweet and steamy reward for adult readers only.

Look, I have a thing for both folklore and worldbuilding, and so my shameless, unadulterated enjoyment of Captured Prey is, in many ways, for completely the wrong reasons. This is a horny book. It's supposed to be. But my ADHD self kept stopping to look into different aspects of the lore. 500/5 stars for the depth and clever use of the worldbuilding & the vivid, sensory-rich way Reno R. Mist immerses the reader into a unique universe. Celia's story is one of unlocking deep desires as she...

Celia walks into The Oubliette looking for something sharp and dangerous, and what she signs up for is exactly that. An ugly, beautiful hunt where consent is a rope and desire is the teeth. She is curious, wanting to be hunted, wanting to tremble and grin at the same time, and Lahs gives her every feral promise. He’s equal parts ancient tree-wrath and patient predator, smelling like moss and old smoke, moving like he could either cradle you or tear you into the earth. Part two of the hunt is...

Captured Prey is my introduction to Reno R. Mist. Although this is a short read it's very intricate with details. Each word built this world otherwise unseen. I'm not even sad or upset that it left me on a type of a cliffhanger. The host, the FMC, the MMC linger in my imagination and can't wait for more. )

\"I’ll be honest: I went in for the pretty cover and the 'new author' curiosity, but I left with a literal bruised psyche. It is rare for a book this short to pack such a massive, heavy-hitting punch. The entire time I was reading Captured Prey, the tone was so calm—almost quiet. But underneath that stillness is a magnetic power. It’s the kind of energy where no one has to raise their voice because you already know exactly who is in control. This isn’t just dark romance or suspense for the sake...
