Zoe Ziakas prefers the quiet, predictable life of a New England librarian, but her world shifts when a mysterious, locked grimoire arrives at her library. This isn't just an old book; it is a siren song that leads her to the Museum of Literature and the dangerous Books of Dubious Origin. There, she uncovers a shocking truth: she is the last descendant of a powerful witch lineage, and her family legacy is far more complicated than she ever imagined.
This enchanting urban fantasy blends cozy vibes with high-stakes paranormal adventure. As Zoe struggles to decode her family’s dark secrets, she finds herself hunted by an eclectic array of supernatural threats, ranging from restless ghost pirates to persistent undead Vikings. To survive, she must rely on the eccentric staff at the museum, particularly the brilliant and infuriatingly handsome containment specialist, Jasper Griffin. Their budding chemistry adds a delightful, slow-burn spark to the chaos of necromancy and ancient curses.
If you are looking for a magical escape filled with mystery and charm, this story is the perfect addition to your shelf. It is a masterclass in the trope of discovering hidden powers, balancing whimsical world-building with genuine danger. Grab your tea and prepare to be bewitched.

I love how these young women begin to get in touch with their inner selves once they discover their powers. And the romance angle here is top shelf as well. I liked Library Lovers Series but this brings McKinlay's writing and creativity to a new level. I am at heart a New Englander so the Connecticut to New York connection is...

I really enjoyed this book from the first page to the end! Jenn has a gift for character development. There are some predictable plot turns, but even then, the story is captivating and original. I hope this becomes a series with many more books. )
