After a six-year hiatus, the sharp-tongued, witch-born demon Rachel Morgan returns to the Hollows in a high-stakes urban fantasy adventure that proves her work is never truly done. Having previously saved the world, Rachel quickly learns that her past heroics came with a hidden price. The very magic used to forge new powers has inadvertently unleashed an ancient, malevolent force, triggering a wave of gruesome, mysterious murders and a sudden, inexplicable rise in the undead.
For fans of paranormal romance, this installment delivers a masterclass in tension and chemistry. As Rachel navigates the chaos, she finds herself drawn back into the orbit of her most complicated frenemy, the enigmatic elf Trent Kalamack. Their simmering, second-chance dynamic provides the emotional heartbeat of the story, proving that even with the fate of the world hanging in the balance, the most dangerous thing Rachel faces might be her own history.
Rachel must now summon every ounce of her complex spellcasting abilities to stop a new, cunning demon from tearing the city apart. It is a thrilling, gritty homecoming that balances supernatural warfare with the intimate, messy relationships readers have craved for years. If you are looking for a pulse-pounding, magical thrill ride, Rachel is waiting.

Well if there were ever the perfect occasion to dust off the old blog, this is it!! It’s been six years since we said “see you later” to Rachel and the gang, but that later is NOW and I am so glad to have The Hollows back. It was my flagship series for many years and honestly when the series ended, I was feeling a bit of urban fantasy burnout? I also went to get a masters degree so I had to table reading for fun for a few years and it never really quite picked back up to what it used to be even...

Our favorite witch is back in the kitchen cooking up complex spells and risking her life for those she loves. Rachel may have saved the world, but her work is far from over. Something is hunting people in their sleep, forcing them to attack their loved ones. And true to form, the I.S. is keeping a hush on the finer details that could help solve the case. When Rachel is pulled in by the FIB to help they immediately try to pin it on the demons. Disgusted Rachel refuses to aid them, but that...

As the saying goes, even the good things come to an end: I just finished reading American Demon. I'm a little ambivalent about the title, but that is my only ambivalence. I was a little anxious wondering if Kim Harrison would be able to bring back Rachel and Trent as a couple and make it work. She did. As all The Hollows books, it didn't disappoint. It was fast paced, suspenseful -even more than usual, I think, and full of emotion. Kim Harrison hooks you up from the first page to the last and...

I love The Hollow series and when book 13 was the end I went searching for something similar but nothing matches Kim Harrisons talent when it comes to both world building and character building. Not only does the main character get arcs of growth throughout the series but so do her many friends. I don't have much to say negative about this series except that for one as powerful as the main character, it just seems like certain things that irk her are just filler. In 14 books with repeated vamp...

Like others, I thought the series ended with the last book. Was delighted to see Kim Harrison wrote another book in the series. This fits between the end of previous book and the epilogue in that same book. At first a bit confusing, but Rachel alludes to elements in the epilogue through dreams she's having. I love the main characters in the series. And really enjoyed the new demon introduced in this book. Some things are the same while other relationships and situations have shifted and...
