About this book

Hidden deep within the mist-shrouded history of Salem lies a secret that defies time itself. When Dora travels to the historic town expecting a simple family reunion, she instead discovers that her mother is alive, terrified, and tethered to a legacy of ancient witchcraft. The only hope for their survival rests in a mythical, vanishing bookstore that serves as a sanctuary for those who wield forbidden power.

This enchanting paranormal tale blends the allure of generational mysteries with the high-stakes tension of a hunt for survival. As Dora navigates a world of hidden magic, she must grapple with her own untapped potential and the realization that she is being watched by forces that have waited centuries for her arrival. The story masterfully weaves the trope of a secret magical society with the discovery of one's true heritage, making it a must-read for fans of atmospheric, witchy fiction.

If you crave a story where the boundaries between reality and enchantment blur, this journey into the unknown will keep you spellbound. Follow Dora as she uncovers the truth behind the blue door, where every leatherbound volume holds a life-or-death secret. Will she master her newfound magic before the shadows close in?

Once there, she is tasked with the job of finding an ancient book in a vanishing bookstore. This is a fun story, one filled with realistic and endearing characters and surprises on every page. It is a fun book for those who have visited Salem, Massachusetts, too, because many of its...

Clunky

April 19, 2025

I really wanted to love this book, but found the writing to be rather clunky and unrefined. This, in turn, was a definite impediment to the narrative, making it difficult for me to engage. The style comes off as juvenile, although the premise is intriguing. I’m reminded of Eragon—impressive for a teen author, but in the end too stylistically and thematically derivative to finish reading. ) 2 people found this helpful
