A little confusing but overall very intriguing!

This book took me for a ride! I LOVE that it is a true villain story. There really are no “likeable” characters and yet I’m obsessed with them all. Imani isn’t a horrible person, but she is mercenary, and anything is fair play if it helps her survive or gets her what she wants. This seems to be the case for all the characters really, and everyone’s motivations were (and are) a mystery. You can just tell there a a 1000 plotters in the game and I’m pretty sure half of them have more than one...

This book really surprised me. At first, I wasn’t sure it was for me, about 15% in, I was a bit lost in the plot and magic system, and I almost put it down.
