Piers Corbin has spent her life surrounded by toxins, from the lethal berries of her childhood to the suffocating grip of a volatile marriage. When she fakes her own death to escape her husband, she seeks refuge in the mountains with an estranged aunt, only to discover that her dark affinity for poison is not a curse, but a sacred birthright. She is a Bane Witch, one of a lineage of women who consume deadly flora to fuel their magic and purge the world of predatory men.
This gripping paranormal thriller blends atmospheric mystery with a sharp, vengeful edge. As Piers hones her craft while working in a quaint cafe, she juggles a dangerous flirtation with a local sheriff who is beginning to notice the mounting body count. The tension skyrockets when a serial killer begins stalking the area, forcing Piers to decide if she will remain a guardian of her own safety or embrace her role as the ultimate predator.
Perfect for fans of gritty, magical realism, this story is a dark, empowering anthem for those who believe that sometimes, the only way to heal a broken world is to eliminate the source of the rot. It is a chilling, fast-paced read where the line between villain and savior blurs with every drop of poison.

I really loved this one! I felt like I was reading an Alice Hoffman novel. It gets right into it, and doesn't start off slow. The main character is well developed, and it's a great story. Perfect for curling up with a blanket and a hot cup of tea. I couldn't put it down, and I'm so sad it's finished. I'll definitely be looking at more of Ava Morgyn's work. ) 2 people found this helpful

***CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS!*** I really enjoyed this book. It is a perfect representation of women seizing their power and not letting abusive, bad men dictate and control while still showing there are good men in the world. Very well written, I look forward to reading more from this author! ) 4 people found this helpful

“We don’t fear men in this house, men fear us” Hooked from the very beginning and could not put The Bane Witch down. Don’t let the cover fool you, this is a dark mystery thriller. The concept for the plot is unique. Piers is a witch but doesn’t know it. What’s more is that she is a Bane Witch who can eat poisonous plants that regular people would die from. She doesn’t discover this until she escapes from her abusive husband to go find her aunt. From there Piers learns just who she really is and...
