by Alaya Wells

About this book

Time is running out for the kingdom’s most dangerous couple. With only five days before a lethal curse claims the life of the cursed king, Lore, his devoted witch must infiltrate the treacherous Irridain Court. The only path to salvation lies in stealing a talisman from a powerful princess, forcing the pair into a deadly game of deception where beauty is a weapon and a single misstep leads to execution.

This high-stakes entry in the Kingdom of Shadow and Ruin series masterfully blends dark romance with the sharp edge of gothic fantasy. As the tension mounts, Lore’s internal struggle grows, threatening to consume him even as his protectiveness over his partner burns brighter than ever. For readers who crave a slow-burn connection layered with intense yearning and visceral stakes, this installment delivers on every promise.

Beyond the political intrigue and lethal fae politics, the story thrives on the chemistry between two protagonists who would gladly watch the world burn to protect one another. Packed with sharp banter, dark secrets, and the visceral intensity of a touch-her-and-face-his-fury dynamic, this is the ultimate paranormal romance for those who love their love stories wrapped in shadow, blood, and unwavering devotion.

A great conclusion to the series! I think this book might of been my favorite of the series. I enjoyed reading the trials they had to go through. The pressure you felt during the whole read with their timeline ticking away. Must read series! )

Not my favorite in the series.

Potential Spoilers In comparison to the others this one was painful. I’m happy the two main characters are together but every two sentences between them is something overly soppy and dramatic, even when in literal time-sensitive peril. I’m just not sure trying to wrestle keys from magic zapping worms in a serial killers castle with an ancient enemy stalking you is the time for the 30th soliloquy about how you’d burn down the world for each other and such. Also, the explanation for given by...
