Emmy Harlow is a witch who prefers the quiet anonymity of Chicago to the high-stakes magical politics of her hometown, Thistle Grove. But when the prestigious annual spellcasting tournament demands her return, she finds herself pulled back into a world she tried to outrun. Emmy is prepared for family obligations and a quick departure, but she is entirely unprepared for the local heartbreak that awaits her.
The town’s most notorious cad, Gareth Blackmoore, has been playing a dangerous game, stringing along both Emmy’s best friend and a formidable dark witch named Talia Avramov. When the two jilted women decide that revenge is the only logical course of action, they recruit a reluctant Emmy to help them take Gareth down. What begins as a mission of petty retribution quickly spirals into something much more complicated, especially as Emmy finds herself dangerously distracted by Talia’s wicked charm.
This sizzling urban fantasy is the perfect cozy escape for readers who love a blend of paranormal intrigue and queer romance. Packed with small-town magical charm, vengeful spirits, and a slow-burn sapphic connection, the story proves that sometimes the best way to mend a broken heart is to hex the person who broke it.

Witchy?✔️ Queer?✔️ Romance?✔️ All my favorite things! Hands down one of my favorite reads last year, I loved it. Such a fun, cozy feel good read. No *extreme* drama or tension, just a perfect sprinkle to keep things interesting, give substance to the plot, and give the characters something to grow from. The idyllic whimsy of Thistle Grove is spun like the loveliest daydream that makes me want to immediately pack up and move there and never leave. Emmy’s love, even if initially reluctant, for...

Emmy Harlow hasn't been home to the magical town of Thistle Grove in years. Meaning she is a witch with very weak powers. But when a spellcasting tournament that her family serves as arbiters for approaches, it brings Emmy back to town. On her first night home, Emmy runs into Talia Avramov—an all-around badass adept in the darker magical arts. Things heat up between Emmy and Talia, but how can they keep their budding relationship alive when Emmy wants to leave Thistle Grove and go back to...

Spoilers & Thoughts Below!! •Payback’s a Witch was an interesting sapphic romance book about three witches teaming up together for revenge. •This was a good read as there were moments I did enjoy however, the overall story was very slow-paced. •The small town feel and witchy element in this book was really nice. However, I would have liked just a bit more background and history on the town. •The plot itself while entertaining was a bit dull at times and the writing just didn’t really seem to...

Good book. Couldn't put it down! I'm not usually into the witchy stuff or the spicy stuff, but this book was well written and really kept me engaged throughout. I ended up finishing it in two days, partly because I was reading it with a friend and wanted to finish first, but also because I just needed to know what happened next at the end of every chapter. Looking forward to reading the other books in this series! ) One person found this helpful
