About this book

Scarlett Melrose thought she had left the supernatural chaos of Oak Haven behind for the safety of her quiet San Francisco life. But when a desperate plea from her estranged sisters reveals that the town’s ancient magic is spiraling into disarray, she is forced to return to the place she tried so hard to forget. Dealing with a fractured family legacy is difficult enough, but it becomes infinitely more complicated when she finds herself face-to-face with Nate, the charming handyman and old flame whose presence stirs up memories she isn't ready to confront.

This enchanting paranormal romance perfectly balances high-stakes sorcery with the comforting warmth of a small-town setting. As Scarlett attempts to mend the town’s faltering enchantments, a botched spell leaves her trapped in a magical mess she cannot escape alone. She must navigate the tension of a delicious, slow-burn romance with her grumpy counterpart, proving that sometimes the most powerful magic is found in the people we try to push away.

If you are looking for a cozy, witchy aesthetic that feels like a crisp autumn day, this story is your next obsession. It is a heartfelt, humorous journey of second chances, sibling bonds, and discovering that your true power lies exactly where you started.

Witches, Magicians, and Gourds

Ten years ago, Scarlett Melrose left Oak Haven (and being a witch) but when her estranged sisters call to tell her to come home, she knows it's time. It turns out that the magic in town is acting up. Unfortunately, it's not an easy fix and the more time passes, the worse things get around town. This book is described as 'where Gilmore Girls meets Charmed', so as a millennial I was immediately excited. It also didn't hurt that the cover is so cute. I like the premise of the story - a quaint town...

Good, but...

A good first effort, but I was put off by the occasional use of crude language. Maybe I'm a prude, but I don't appreciate F bombs scattered through what should be light-hearted, clean and cozy reading. I will not be reading the rest of the series. )

A glorious 13 star review

A glorious 13 star review. If you know, you know. I’ve read hundreds of witchy novels, most of them were serious reads and more historical. But I’ve never read one like this. The FMC is funny, has a sense of humor and makes corny jokes like I do. She has trauma. She gets upset and has anxiety. Her whole world feels only normal when he’s around. He’s her calm in a world full of chaos. Also, he does some corny jokes too and they do it together. The sisterly bond! Something I wish I could have....

Cozy but lacks charisma

🪄This is a pretty typical “Something went wrong with the magic in a witchy small town” read. I looked it up and I think it’s actually 9th in the Myrtlewood Mysteries series. 🪄Scarlett, a rather chaotic middle child, left home ten years ago when her father passed. She hasn’t been home to Oak Haven since. She gets called back by her family when the magical town’s magic begins to degrade. All of a sudden the town has normal squirrels and not perfect weather, so you know it’s bad. 😁 🪄Scarlett...

A fun one

This was a fun witchy rom-com. There were moments that I wasn't too sure that I liked the characters, but on the whole I did like them. The plot and world is a bit zany and madcap, but it was fun to read. Though some of the ending I found a bit annoying. On the whole it was worth it. )
