What starts as a simple fifty-dollar gig rescuing a cat soon spirals into a chaotic supernatural entanglement for Kanika, a snarky Sphinx shifter who just wanted an easy payday. One stray thought is all it takes for the devil to claim her, saddling her with a debt that forces her into a high-stakes mission she never asked for.
This fast-paced paranormal romance delivers a perfect cocktail of wit, danger, and sizzling chemistry. Forced into an unlikely partnership with Malcolm, a breathtakingly gorgeous, kitten-rescuing Scottish firefighter, Kanika finds herself playing bodyguard to a man who is clearly in over his head. As they navigate a world teeming with shifters and deadly conspiracies, Kanika must protect the man she is forbidden to love while dodging the devil’s own plans for an heir.
If you are craving a series that balances laugh-out-loud humor with a rising body count, this is your next obsession. It is a refreshing take on the genre, featuring a relatable, sharp-tongued heroine and a slow-burn romance that simmers amidst the chaos. Dive into a world where magic is messy, the stakes are soul-crushing, and finding love might just be the most dangerous job of all.

Whatever For Hire is possibly one of the best paranormal books I've read! I've loved this series since it started and each book just seems to get better and better. There is humor, romance, action, A LOT of magical beings, and a lot of magic. Now while I love everything about mythology I have only barely touched Egyptian mythology. RJ Blain always seems to have the traditional myths but with a twist of her own originality thrown in that makes it so much fun! Kanika is an absolute trip! I love...

Loved the writing. It made me laugh. Loved the characters. The heroine wasn't perfect. She was real, as real as you can be in a world different from ours. Yes, as one review said there is a curse left unanswered. But please keep in mind this author writes most her books with a book or two connected. I would definitely recommend reading this. ) 6 people found this helpful

I like the variety of paranormal creatures. Zanika is a spynx. She is strong and has great come back lines. She takes on a kidnapping assignment and meets Malcolm. She is attracted to him. She gets into dangerous and humorous situations with many creatures, including the devil. I give this four stars, because Zanika did not ask Malcolm two important questions. One: she never asked him what kind of paranormal creature he was. She often wondered but never asked. Two: The one who hired told her to...

I tend to read at least a book a day. When I was down, especially while recovering from cancer, I'd search for a comedy to read. Then I found RJ Blain, her comedies are now my \"go to\" for a bad day. I have read her other genres, and she's a wonderful writer no matter what style she's writing in. However, if you're only Interested in laugh out loud comedies only read this series - her other series are darker. If you would believe, people actually give those lower ratings because they wanted to...

Characters, storyline, couldn't put it down. Snarky, eye rolling, sarcastic humor. My favorites. She's a fantastic storyteller. We'll worth the loss of sleep. )
