The Omega Objection: The San Andreas Shifters

by G. L. Carriger

About this book

Tank is a gentle giant working as a bouncer, but his world shifts the moment he locks eyes with Isaac. As a werewolf, Tank is used to navigating the world through scent, yet the sexy, snarky bartender is a complete blank slate. Isaac is a man hiding from a dangerous past, taking refuge in the San Francisco Bay Area under the mistaken belief that it is entirely wolf-free. When these two collide, the chemistry is undeniable, even if the mystery of Isaac’s lack of scent threatens to tear them apart.

This urban fantasy gem is a masterclass in heart and humor, blending the high-stakes tension of the shifter world with the grounded reality of a contemporary romance. As part of the San Andreas Shifters series, it leans into the academy and shifter tropes fans adore, offering a fresh, witty take on the paranormal genre. You will find yourself rooting for these muscled, awkward, and deeply lovable characters as they navigate a landscape of secrets and supernatural danger.

If you are looking for a paranormal romance that balances genuine emotional stakes with laugh-out-loud banter, this is your next obsession. G. L. Carriger crafts a world that is as inclusive as it is addictive, proving that sometimes the biggest monsters are the ones we are most afraid to open our hearts to. Whether you are a long-time fan of the series or a newcomer seeking a standalone thrill, this story of fated mates and urban intrigue is impossible to put down.

Even better than the last one!

I reread this book in preparation for the third book in the series, and I liked it so much the second time around too! This is the second book in the San Andreas pack series, and you should read the books in order, because there be spoilers in this one. This is a romance book with explicit gay sex scenes, not usually my cup of tea, but a Gail Carriger is my favorite kind of book, and I don’t mind the sex scenes at all – the form a natural part of the book. This is a wonderful, sweet, awesome...

Sweet, fun, and angsty.

This second novel (and third work) in the San Andreas shifters series veered away from from where I thought the obvious romance series progression would go (either Lovejoy and Mana or Colin and Judd (who will be next!!)), to focus on the pack member previously best represented by snarky commentary on the obvious suitability of his nickname: Tank. This entry is a little more somber than the previous two. It reveals and processes very real issues of self worth for both the main characters, and...

I love this series!! GL C

The magic of GL Carriger is how she weaves the stories of several characters into incredible, heartfelt and, yes, sexy stories. I'm a huge fan of JR Ward's Blackdagger Brotherhood... but I think this series might even be better... and that's remarkably hard to say. In this series, the characters struggle with remarkably human challenges despite the fact that they are shifters. They want love in their lives, they protect their brothers, they squabble and, through it all, they LOVE their pack....

4.5 stars. That half-star deduction is for some repetition, and the last part of the ending was uninspired. But the rest? Loved it. I'm enjoying the characters and worldbuilding, and the plots and emotional arcs are great so far. On to book 3. )

A delightful romp not to be missed!

I'm so glad Gail returned to this universe. It's so much fun, this sort of \"what if?\" of the Parasol Protectorate universe. The characters are always brilliant, complex and awesome and sweet; honestly Gail does the best romance. Even when it's insta-love style it's cute as heck. I do love this more explicit series of hers too, even if sometimes I skip a little out of personal preference. It reads like the author enjoyed writing it. These two main characters in particular are just--adorable. I...
