With Hearts of Flame (Deluxe Limited Edition): A Dark Academia Romantasy Novel of Vampires and Dragons Featuring Stenciled Edges and Illustrated Endpapers (Bloodwing Academy, 4)

Layla Fitzpatrick has spent her entire adult life perfecting the art of invisibility. As a wolf shifter with a traumatic past, she knows that staying under the radar of the supernatural elite is the only way to survive. She wants nothing more than a quiet, predictable existence, far removed from the power struggles of Boston’s dangerous preternatural underworld.
That fragile peace shatters during a ritual bonding ceremony when a corrupted spell forces a permanent, unwanted mate bond between Layla and Michael Kolbeck. Michael is the antithesis of her low-profile lifestyle—a high-powered, corporate shifter who navigates the city’s treacherous political landscape with cold, calculated precision. Now, they are tethered together by an undeniable, volatile passion that neither can control.
This dark romance pulls you into a high-stakes world where wolves, witches, and vampires coexist on the brink of war. It is an intense urban fantasy that thrives on atmospheric tension and the palpable friction between two polar opposites. While the story is notorious for its gripping suspense and a massive cliffhanger that will leave you desperate for the next installment, the journey into this dangerous, primal connection is an addictive experience for any fan of the shifter genre.

Wow! What a story! I was super intrigued just from the synopsis, but I didn't realise how easily I'd fall into this story and world. And let's start there. The world created here was interesting and exciting. There was a lot to establish, but it wasn't done in an overwhelming way. It felt easy to follow and understand. The story was also a unique take on a shifter/paranormal story. Layla's eyes were a great vehicle to see this world through. She was a heroine who was strong, smart, and brave,...

I really enjoyed all of this book until the end. It cuts off, leaves most of the story untold, makes me kinda not like the guy, and has an actual cliffhanger ending. The rest of the story is apparently on patreon. This I am not a fan of. I hope someday the rest of the book comes out as a second book or something. The ending makes me want to give the book 3 stars, but the writing is so good it would be 5 if it had a proper ending and not a cliffhanger behind a confusing paywall. I’m not even...

I NEED MORE!!! The Lunatics is told from Layla’s POV in first person. The writing style is so magnificent that it reads so easily and quickly. It is truly bingeable and I am in desperate need of more. There is definitely a cliffhanger, but I have been told we will be getting another book in the near future. So, do not let that stop you from diving in. It jumps right in with Layla attending a multipack mating ceremony in support of her best friend, Gia. Gia is ace and nervous about how that will...

I actually really enjoyed the story and characters. It had some different elements from other werewolf stories that sets it apart. It felt a bit like “A Discovery of Witches” I hope the author plans on continuing the series. )
