The Killing Dance: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel

by Laurell K. Hamilton

About this book

Anita Blake is the most feared necromancer and vampire executioner in St. Louis, but her lethal reputation has finally caught up with her. When a mysterious professional assassin puts a massive bounty on her head, Anita finds herself trapped in a deadly game of survival where her usual allies are no longer enough. To stay alive, she must turn to the one person who understands the dark, violent side of her life better than anyone: Edward, the ruthless hitman who treats death like a business.

This sixth installment of the iconic urban fantasy series masterfully navigates the tension between the supernatural and the human. As Anita juggles her complicated romances with the seductive vampire master Jean-Claude and the conflicted wolf-shifter Richard, she is forced to confront the volatile politics of the shifter community. The enemies-to-lovers undercurrents and high-stakes power struggles add a layer of intensity that keeps the pages turning at a breakneck speed.

For readers who crave a gritty blend of paranormal romance and dark mystery, this story is an essential addition to your library. With her powers expanding and the body count rising, Anita must prove that she is more than just a hunter—she is the apex predator of the supernatural world.

Greatest Hits Volume One

I'm still reading the Series. Just decided to go back and read the earlier novels in it once again. I am always very careful not to put spoilers in reviews, probably too careful when I review any book. In other words, I am so afraid of giving away too much, that I probably give too little. What can I say? If you liked the others in the beginning of the Anita Blake series, you'll like this one just fine. I think it stands as one of Ms. Hamilton's best. At least, in my own personal opinion The...

Clear the calendar--you'll read this one in one sitting!

I'm quickly making my way through the Anita Blake series. Any of these novels is a winner on its own, but you'll miss so much if you don't start at the beginning (GUILTY PLEASURES). DANCE, in my humble opinion, is the best book thus far in the series. The main characters (Anita, Jean-Claude, Richard, Edward) are much more developed, the relationships between them all are so well written that you start to feel like you know them. In DANCE, Anita faces the realization that a mysterious \"money...

Anita's Powers Increase & Her Love Life Expands!

January 17, 2005

\"She is the Executioner and has more vampire kills than any other human. She is a necromancer of such power that you have traveled halfway around the world to consult her. She is my human servant, without a mark to hold her to me. She dates me without vampire glamour.\" So speaks Jean Claude, Master Vampire of St. Louis, as he describes the love of his very long life, Anita Blake, to a perspective client - one of the undead. And Anita is back, in Book 6 of Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake...

As Satisfying as an Ice Cream Sundae

I have read all of the novels in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series and the \"The Killing Dance\" is one of the very best and my own personal favorite. Readers would be well-advised to start the series with the first novel \"Guilty Pleasures\" and enjoy the development of each of the characters instead of starting with this novel. The book explores the growth and development of each of four main characters; our heroine Anita Blake, junior-high school teacher and alpha werewolf Richard...

Another great piece of the Anita Blake series and world!

I wonder why at this point anyone in the supernatural world that Anita resides in would be surprised by anything she does. I like that there is still a ton of adventure and roller coaster in this one. I appreciate that Anita is really pealing back the layers of her issues. What I really don't like is the negative appraisals she gives herself about everything in regard to her person, except he ability to kill. That she is confident on, but I wish should would let up a little on always being so...
