The Chase: Steel Pack Alphas, Book 1

by Reece Barden

About this book

Alpha Blake Steel is running out of time. As a powerful wolf shifter, his sanity is fracturing under the weight of moon madness, and without his fated mate, his life is nearing a lethal deadline. He can sense her nearby, but when he finally tracks her down, he is met with a complication he never anticipated: she is human, completely oblivious to the supernatural world, and entirely unprepared for the possessive alpha who has just crashed into her life.

This steamy paranormal romance is the perfect pick for readers who crave the tension of enemies-to-lovers dynamics and the intense loyalty of found-family pack life. As Blake fights to claim his mate while shielding her from ancient enemies, including lurking vampires and dangerous witches, the chemistry between them ignites. Zoe, the last of three sisters to discover her destiny, finds herself thrust into a perilous new reality where survival and passion are inextricably linked.

If you love high-stakes shifter romances that you cannot put down until the final page, this dual POV journey is a must-read. With a guaranteed happily-ever-after and a gripping narrative that expands on the beloved Greyridge legacy, this story delivers the perfect blend of danger, desire, and fated-mate magic.

Reader Reviews

a straight through, steamy, paranormal, romance

December 19, 2023

I grabbed this book by chance when searching Goodreads for a paranormal romance to fill a reading challenge quota. I read The Chase straight through - not putting it down until the very last page was read, which happened to be just after 3am. Starting a new book before bed is a rookie move, but how was I supposed to know that I would love Barsen’s storytelling, characters and steamy scenes?! The Chase has fated mates - my favorite, an Alpha - also a favorite, and a strong, independent FMC. I...

loved it!

I absolutely loved it. Was looking forward to Blake and Zoe’s story so much and it didn’t disappoint. The only reason it’s not getting a 5 is the editing errors, especially when Tyson kept being referred to as his step-brother when they were not step siblings. They were 1/2 siblings because they share the same father. That kind of bugged me, but overall great story ) 2 people found this helpful

Good next book about these sisters.

You really need to read \"The Shifters of Greyridge\" before this book. It will help you understand the connections of the sisters. Zoe is the last of 3 sisters to find her mate, and quite in the dark about the whole shifter-thing. It's quite a shock at first! Too funny. Blake is not only an alpha of his pack, but also he's the alpha over many other packs too. Yeah, he's a big deal. He seems different than the impression I had from one of the other sister's story (I forget which). He's very...

alpha of all alphas and the human vet

This book was so good. Some unexpected twists and turns. Charming Blake from the first 3 books is still ever so charming in book 4. The smart down to earth Zoe is perfect for him. It was a good book with slow burn and some plot twists. )

best one yet

This is everything I had hoped for Blake’s story. I loved the set-up in the earlier books… we find out why he felt a connection (but not a mate bond) with Hayley. Zoe is exactly the right personality for Blake’s mate. I love them as a couple. )
