After shedding the dust of their ancient mausoleum, Wang Xiaomie and Wen Fengjin are finally trading centuries of slumber for the strange, neon-lit domesticity of the modern era. This urban fantasy sequel blends the charm of a cozy shifter romance with the high-stakes tension of a supernatural thriller. While the duo attempts to adjust to the comforts of the twenty-first century, their peaceful existence is shattered by the arrival of the artisans, a clandestine society hell-bent on eradicating their kind with enchanted weaponry.
The stakes escalate rapidly when an act of compassion—rescuing a dying stranger—marks the pair as prime targets for a vengeful artisan with a long-standing grudge. As the net tightens around them, they find themselves caught in a web of mind control, betrayal, and the shocking reappearance of a figure from their distant past. The blend of historical legacy and contemporary danger creates a unique atmosphere where every shadow feels like a threat to their hard-won love.
Perfect for fans of paranormal romance who enjoy a mix of historical depth and modern-day chaos, this final volume delivers a gripping conclusion. Whether you are here for the shifter lore or the intense emotional bond between the leads, this story promises an unforgettable end to their journey.

First of all - There is no racism in this novel. There is, however, a very black mixed race character named Bai Yu. So my review is for the novel as a whole. I give it 7/10 stars. Its easy to follow, and entertaining. Is it a great novel? No. Is it bad? Also no. Wen Fengjin is this 1000 yr old undead guy. Wang Xiaomi is his obsession. I'm not a fan of the obsessive, I will murder everybody for you kind of lover but this guy grew on me. In the beginning, Wang Xiaomi is kinda dumb and just along...

I was a bit hesitant to read this, because Ive read it is suppose to be very racists. However, as I enjoyed the first book, I decided to go ahead with this one aswell. And I am glad i did. Those part that was suppose to be racists are not really that imo, as what happens in the novel is some strange part of the culture there. That doesnt mean that the protaganist is really meen, which he is. I think it was a good novel, and im happy i read it. )
