Magic Rises: A Kate Daniels Novel

by Ilona Andrews

About this book

Atlanta’s most formidable mercenary, Kate Daniels, faces her most devastating challenge yet. As the Beast Lord’s mate, she is caught in a heartbreaking crisis: the Pack’s children are dying, unable to control their shifting. With the only life-saving medicine locked behind the gatekeeping of European shapeshifters, Kate and Curran are forced to play a dangerous political game to ensure the survival of their found family.

This sixth installment of the beloved urban fantasy series expertly balances high-stakes action with the complex pack dynamics that fans crave. As Kate and Curran venture into the lion’s den of European shifter politics, the tension is palpable. They know the invitation to arbitrate a dispute is a calculated trap, yet they have no choice but to walk into the fire. The stakes have never been higher for the future of Atlanta’s supernatural society.

If you are looking for a paranormal romance that refuses to sacrifice grit for passion, this is your next obsession. Kate and Curran remain the gold standard for power couples, blending fierce combat with a deepening, hard-won devotion. Prepare for a pulse-pounding journey where the cost of loyalty is measured in blood, and every victory demands a sacrifice.

Excellent continuation of this series

This is the sixth book in the Kate Daniels series. It feels like it's been awhile between books and I was very excited to get back to reading about this world and about Kate and Curran. This was an absolutely wonderful read. Kate and Curran are sick of dealing with the increasing death of shapeshifter children who are going Loup. The problem really hits home when Julie's best friend goes loup and Kate wants to do something about it. There is a medicine that helps those who start to go loup and...

Just as entertaining as the rest of the series

Once again, Ilona and Gordon, the husband and wife team behind the pseudonym Ilona Andrews, have knocked it out of the ball park. Magic Rises is the sixth book in the action-packed, urban fantasy series that focuses on Kate Daniels, a warrior living in a world where the balance between magic and tech is unstable. Kate's magical blood makes her powerful, yet vulnerable to her fratricidal father. Fortunately, she has the backing of her pack courtesy of her role as mate to Currran, The Beast Lord...

New surprises with the old comfort

This review can be found at The Blogger Girls review site! This is a hard review for me to write. Kate and Curran are one of my all time favorite couples. Kate is such a bada$$ and Curran is this very sexy, very protective hunk of a man. They fit each other and I love them because they’re perfect for one another…. and they’re just so completely freaking awesome. While I really liked the story, there were some things that I didn’t enjoy. Mainly, since this is book six in a series, I had expected...

Ilona Andrews takes things to a whole new level

I highly, highly recommend avoiding all spoilers for this book. Read it fresh. I promise there aren’t spoilers in my review below. However, because I talk about the book and hint at things that happen, I wanted to give warning here. Once upon a time, I’d never read anything by Ilona Andrews. I lived in the dark, badgered by my good friend (thank you Kat!!) constantly as she tried to get me to pick up Magic Bites. I don’t even remember what my problem was - why I didn’t pick up this book as soon...

Even after a long break, this series continues to amaze!

It has been a long time since the 5th installment of the Kate Daniels series was released. A long time. I was worried that after so much time a lot of the magic of the series would have dimmed, and I was concerned that I would be totally lost regarding characters and major plot points. Well, never fear ... I was able to jump right into this story with little problem. What I found was a story that was engaging and interesting in so many ways. There is enough action in this one story to...
