Exceeded My Expectations

So I got into the series pretty late in the game, 2008 or 2009. I started with the first book and finished the others off pretty quickly; I even had to drive 4 hours round trip because no store in my area had one of the books and I didn't want to wait for it to come in (I wanted it NOW!!!) THe last few books before this I was starting to get get a bit, not disappointed really, but disenchanted with the Anita Blake world. I've read every Anita Blake book (minus the anthologies and Beauty) and, like most of you I enjoyed the first 9, and what the heck, I'll be a little generous here and say that I even enjoyed it up to 12. 13-16 were tolerable (barely) and I definitely had to take a break in reading them all. 17 (Skin Trade) was one of my favorites because of the completely new environment and people, and also because we saw a somewhat return to the old Anita. I want to start by saying that this book may not be exactly a 5 star novel. BUT compared to the past few LKH books, this one is so much better that it deserves the extra star.
