Gamble on a Gargoyle: A Paranormal Monster Romance (Possessive Monsters Book 11)

by Maggie Mayhem

About this book

Rock bottom hits hard, but for one desperate woman, it comes with a stolen dragon egg and a murderous ex-fiancé hot on her heels. Fleeing through the supernatural underworld, she has no choice but to seek protection from the legendary dragon of Darlington. Her only guide through the chaos is Graham, a brooding, powerful gargoyle sent to intercept her. With wings, claws, and a hard, stone-cold exterior that hides a simmering intensity, he is exactly the kind of trouble she cannot afford yet desperately craves.

This installment of the Possessive Monsters series perfectly captures the allure of the shifter romance genre. It leans heavily into the fan-favorite alpha-hero trope, showcasing a protector who is as dangerous as he is devoted. Graham is the classic reluctant hero who fights his growing attraction to his mate, only to be completely undone by her presence. The chemistry between them is explosive, proving that even a heart made of stone can catch fire.

If you are hunting for a paranormal romance that balances high-stakes adventure with steamy, character-driven tension, this is your next must-read. It is a standalone journey where the stakes are high, the gargoyle is possessive, and the happily-ever-after is guaranteed.

Stone, Fire, and a Heart That Refused to Stay Cold

May 1, 2026

There’s something quietly mesmerizing about Gamble on a Gargoyle by Maggie Mayhem—the kind of story that doesn’t rush to grab you, but instead settles in, slow and steady, until you realize you’re completely wrapped up in it. Meera’s life takes a sharp, dangerous turn when she goes looking for proof of betrayal and instead stumbles into something far darker. From that moment on, the story moves with a sense of quiet tension—less about explosive action and more about the weight of every choice...

Time

The only thing is it seemed a timeline was not kept up with. Sometimes a few days would be the next day in a conversation. This happened at least 3 times. So lil disconcerting so I would go back and double check. )

Excellent!

Graham, the final Redrock Brother meets his mate, and fights the attraction kicking and screaming. No way was he ever falling for another women’s wiles! One bad experience was enough for any gargoyle’s lifetime! But there is something about Meera that he just can’t seem to resist! Meera has been betrayed by her fiancé and when she tires to catch him in the act, she catches him committing murder instead. Panicked, she grabs her gym bag by his desk and makes a run for it to her apartment. When...

This was a great fast paced story with tons of action to keep you going!

Thank you Maggie Mayhem for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily. I loved every minute of this! There is so much action and danger, but there are also so many good cozy scenes to balance it. I loved both Graham and Meera! Graham came with a lot of baggage from a previous relations ship, and it was interesting to watch him finally work through it and figure out he deserved to be loved and not just used. Meera was fantastic and bonus points for her...

When the first sentence grabs you it's very important to just follow it and enjoy the ride. 😂

Meera knows her fiancé is having an affair. After breaking into his office to plant cameras she expects to have the video evidence she needs to leave him without a huge mess. He unexpectedly shows up while she's there and instead of engaging with his secretary he actually kind of 💀 someone 😬 In a panic while leaving Meera grabs the wrong bag and what she finds in this bag is unlike anything she's ever seen. She knows someone has been 💀 for it, she knows what her fiancé is capable of in...
