Full Moon Faceoff: Wolves of Burlington

by Max Walker

About this book

Elijah Sager is looking for a fresh start on the ice, hoping to leave his painful past behind as the newest recruit for the Burlington Bobcats. He expects to face challenges on the rink, but he is entirely unprepared for the intensity of Gabriel Sanderson. The team’s star player is brooding, impossibly hot, and possesses a gaze that feels like a threat and a promise all at once.

As a wolf shifter, Gabe has spent his life guarding his pack’s secrets and suppressing his true nature to protect his territory. But the moment Eli arrives, his wolf makes an impossible claim: Eli is his fated mate. What begins as a tense, forced-proximity rivalry fueled by buried attraction quickly spirals into a dark romance defined by a magnetic, undeniable pull.

When a rival pack launches a lethal assault, the stakes shift from the championship title to survival itself. Caught in a web of pack dynamics and treacherous secrets, Gabe and Eli must bridge the gap between enemies and lovers to fight for their future. This high-stakes paranormal series is perfect for readers craving spicy chemistry, intense wolf-shifter lore, and the thrill of a bond that could either destroy them or make them unstoppable.

Romantic, Spicy, But Needs Polishing

March 30, 2026

The romance was romancing! This was an enjoyable read for sure, with a few reservations: The spice was great - well written and swoon-worthy. The characters were likeable and charming, but sometimes the plot developments felt a bit forced - like the author asked \"what's going to happen next\" instead of \"what *would* happen next.\" There were also a few continuity errors that took me right out of the plot - for example, in the first few chapters, Eli says that his ex left him. But then when...

(4.5 stars) Hockey and shifters combined into one, what else could you want?

The perfect marriage of two of my favorite things. Yep, this was such a good story! I'm a sucker for a fated mates story, liking the gravitational pull of it all so much. Gabe and Eli fell for each other hard after Eli let some of his baggage from his verbally abusive past relationship leave his mind. A book like this one is why I get so excited to read, because along comes something fresh and takes me on a journey. 📖✨🚀 The chapter titles were a fantastic edition; not a lot of authors do that...

Really like concept

May 11, 2026

I liked it but needs better editing for grammar (using “and I” instead of “and me”), general proofing for example “single bachelor” and calling out last sentence of chapt 31 titled “I’ve Got This” reads “I really do GO it.” (Jarring to read such bad proofing) and plot flow. Need to decide what Eli smells like! Changes several times. Tie in mating ceremony just plain weird. Not sure could read another one. )

Hockey and shifters and love, OH MY!

Max Walker is an \"always read\" author for me. He has a fun adventurous style of writing that appeals to me. This series is a great idea too. I really like the trope of the supernatural world being revealed to the unsuspecting human. I would really like it if someone would write a book with a horse shifter! The backgrounds of these two men were appreciated to make the story more impact full with angst. And I appreciated the nods to diversity and of course, Lady Gaga. I loved Max's series with...

I like the take on “shifters”

I wasn’t sure at first, I have to admit. For some reason the endearment “Buddy” was not my favorite. But I stuck in there for Eli and came through. I love that this isn’t your typical werewolf world. New rules and more magical than anything. ) One person found this helpful
