Dark Desire: A Carpathian Novel

by Christine Feehan

About this book

Deep in the shadows of the Carpathian Mountains, a pulse-pounding tale of destiny and dangerous attraction unfolds. Dr. Shea O’Halloran is a woman of science, but her world shifts irrevocably when she is summoned to a remote, treacherous wilderness by a man who defies all explanation. Jacques Dubrinsky is a tormented immortal, a Carpathian warrior teetering on the edge of darkness, desperately seeking the one woman who can tether his soul before he loses his humanity to the beast within.

This gritty urban fantasy masterfully blends intense emotional stakes with the primal allure of the shifter genre. As Shea and Jacques navigate the isolation of the mountains, their connection transcends mere physical attraction, evolving into a raw, healing bond that forces them to confront the ghosts of their pasts. Their journey is far from easy; it is a volatile dance between a monster struggling for control and a woman brave enough to face the unknown.

For readers seeking a paranormal romance that prioritizes deep character development alongside high-stakes tension, this story is a must-read. It stands as a powerful testament to the idea that even the most broken souls can find salvation in one another’s arms.

Dark Desire the 2nd book in the Dark Series was better then the first book. This book was darker, but I loved Jacques and Shea more than I did Raven and Mikhail which is saying a lot. I connected more to them as a couple. This is my 4th time reading this book/series and it still manages to captivate me. I feel like I learn something new each time. It never gets stale or boring. That is the beauty of this entertaining series, it seems to suck me into a world that is so compelling that it never...

Intense and engaging follow up to Dark Prince!

‘Is that such a terrible fate, love? To be with me? Am I truly such a monster then? I don’t know how to be with you, I feel trapped, like I can’t move or think.’ If you read Dark Prince you will probably remember Jacques as the fun, younger brother of Mikhail. He was easily one of my favorite characters in that book so it was very hard to see what a terrible state he was in during this book. Gone was the teasing, playful man we came to know in the first book and in its place was a horribly...

Dark Desire bk2 in Christine Feehans Dark Series. This about my 7th re read or maybe more. This is Jacques Dubrinsky's story brother to Prince Mikhail Dubrinsky and leader of the Carpathian Immortal people. Carpathians don't consider themselves as Vampires but an Immortal race of being with extraordinary powers. They can shape shift into any animal or bird. They can turn into mist, rain and even the wind. They do survive on blood and hunt Vampires what they call the undead. Jacques is a very...

Terrific 2nd Novel In The Carpathian Series - A Must Read!

August 30, 2004

\"Dark Desire\" is the second book in Christine Feehan's Carpathian series. This novel stands alone and it is not necessary to read the first book to appreciate this one - although I think you will enjoy it more if you do. Carpathians are a unique race of beings, originating in Romania's Carpathian Mountains, who have existed since humans first inhabited the earth. They are definitely not vampires. They are, however, a different race than man, gifted with the ability to change shape, fly, and...
