Caressed by Ice (Psy-Changelings, Book 3)

by Nalini Singh

About this book

Judd Lauren is an Arrow, a lethal enforcer bred to be a pitiless weapon for the Psy Council. Having defected from his cold, emotionless life, he now lives as a rogue, haunted by the atrocities he committed. He is a man of ice, dangerous and detached, until his path crosses with Brenna Shane Kincaid.

Brenna is a changeling who carries the devastating scars of a brutal kidnapping. After being violated by a sadistic serial killer, she struggles to contain the darkness growing within her own psyche. She distrusts the Psy race instinctively, yet when a string of familiar, gruesome murders begins, Judd becomes her only shield. Their connection is a volatile collision of opposites: his chilling, controlled nature versus her raw, passionate changeling spirit.

This installment is a standout in the paranormal romance genre, masterfully blending high-stakes suspense with a slow-burn, emotional evolution. Readers will be captivated by the forced proximity and the "damaged hero meets damaged heroine" trope, which creates a deep, resonant bond. As they navigate a web of intrigue and past trauma, their scorching, forbidden desire becomes their greatest vulnerability and their only salvation. If you crave intense character development and a gripping, dangerous romance, this is your next obsession.

Judd's my favorite hero in the series

You will all say I didn't get the point of this series if I keep complaining about the fact that there's such a slow building that it always drives me insane and that it always leaves me cold. Ok, I'll concede that. But really, it became interested at the 75% mark and it was incredibly beautiful and hot for the last 9%. I'll read the sequel because the world created by Nalini Singh is really fascinating and I like the pairing up of almost not-compatible protagonists. The Ghost sub-plot with the...

The Psy- Changeling Series: Slave to Sensation Visions of Heat Caressed by Ice If you haven't read this series before, definitely start from the beginning. The background of the species is important for understanding the trials each character faces. The human species and changeling species (half human/ half beast) are pretty self- explanatory. However the Psy species is a creation of Nalini Singh's alone. You'll want to read the first book to get all of the character background. You'll want to...

Incredibly Angst Filled Story Where the Hero and Heroine Heal Each Other

November 13, 2014

Singh has created an incredibly detailed world involving the Psy who have excised emotion from their people and their society who rule the world of humans and changelings (animal/human shapeshifters). THE STORY: Judd Lauren is a former Psy assassin who now lives with is family with the SnowDancer changeling wolves. He is cold and has no intention of breaking Silence to admit emotion to his life because he knows that it will turn him into an indiscriminate killer. He is working with other Psy to...

Amazing story!

July 17, 2019

Caressed by Ice is written in third person with moderate amounts of sexual content (not erotically graphic but detailed) and adult wording throughout with a HEA ending. As this world is very different from reality and set in the future, all the series stands up over time, no matter when you pick up these books, it doesn’t feel dated at all, making each story enjoyable for rereading, because we all know we reread our favorites several times! This book came out third, but chronologically the...
