Bayou Moon: The Edge, Book 2

by Ilona Andrews

About this book

Cerise Mar is the fierce, protective matriarch of a sprawling clan living in the Mire, a treacherous stretch of swampland bordering the magical realm known as the Weird. When her parents mysteriously vanish, she is thrust into a dangerous investigation that puts her at odds with her clan’s oldest rivals. However, the truth is far deadlier than a local feud. A cold war between two supernatural nations is escalating, and the Mire has become the front line for an espionage battle that threatens to consume everyone Cerise loves.

Enter William, a brooding changeling soldier who has long turned his back on the politics of his people. Haunted by his nature and the prejudice he faces, he is pulled back into the fray to hunt an elusive spymaster. When his path intersects with Cerise’s, the two must forge an uneasy alliance. As they navigate a landscape of shifting loyalties and ancient magic, their initial friction ignites into a volatile, undeniable attraction.

This gripping paranormal romance masterfully blends high-stakes action with the warmth of a found-family dynamic. Ilona Andrews delivers a visceral, immersive experience where the line between survival and passion blurs, making this an essential read for anyone craving a world where dangerous shifters and human tenacity collide.

AdMIREd the Heck Out of It

~* 4.5 Stars *~ William Wolf is a changling. Feared and hated by humans of the Weird - and sometimes killed at birth - his kind is cursed as demons and known for having a nearly unquenchable thirst for violence. He's not and will never be 'normal.' He was raised at Hawk's Academy, a cold place that trained him to be a killer for his country, then spit him out into the military. Until a court marshal and a death sentence took everything he knew away from him. Now, almost two years after helping...

Love William. Love the World. Love Ceri.

I cannot believe I’ve never written a review for this. But as I sit here and try to think of how to quantify my feels about this book with words… I kind of can understand why I have not. I adored On the Edge. Declan and Rose were fantastic. George and Jack wormed their way into my heart and made me love them. The world – as to be expected from Ilona Andrews – was amazing, fun, and scary. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel getting away from them so completely. Sure, I’d met William in that...

Bayou Moon is an action-packed, fun-filled adventure with a love story that delivers angst, heart, and deep emotional satisfaction. Ilona Andrews once again proves their mastery of world-building, character development, and fast-paced storytelling in this thrilling sequel to On the Edge. Cerise Mar is a fierce, intelligent, and fiercely loyal heroine, carrying the weight of her family’s survival on her shoulders. She’s everything you want in a strong female lead—resourceful, brave, and willing...

I TRIED TO AVOID THE SPOILERS THERE IS A COUPLE OF VAGUE SPOILER REFERENCES THOUGH. I am a huge fan of these authors. I could not put this book down. It had everything ¡V lovely romance, sophisticated world building, interesting characters and battle against evil. Even though I would say that two books in the On the edge series had been both romance and fantasy so far, I have to say that I *really* liked romance subplot. I like how Cerise and William got to know each other and I think authors...

\"The Edge\" is just getting better and better!

October 13, 2010

The world of The Edge is an interesting one. Modern-day life is juxtaposed with an almost wild-west setting and also with a more traditional fantasy setting. The Broken is mundane earth - technology rules and there is no magic. Then there is The Weird - full of magic and shape shifters and mystical creatures. Sandwiched between is a sort of buffer zone - The Edge. People who live in The Edge have some magic, but not enough to keep them from entering The Broken. They forge a life for themselves...
