Miss Penny is the heartbeat of the sleepy village of Asterton, but her life as a schoolmistress is far from conventional. While she spends her days teaching, she spends her evenings conjuring spirits through the haunting melodies of her piano. With the sharp-witted telepathic cat, Onyx, by her side, she navigates a world where the veil between the living and the dead is dangerously thin.
When the local aristocrat, Lord Blackwood, is found murdered, the finger of suspicion points directly at his nephew, Anthony. Convinced of the young man’s innocence, Miss Penny steps out of the classroom and into a dangerous investigation. To clear Anthony’s name, she must rely on an unlikely alliance: the charming local rector and a sarcastic eighteenth-century ghost named Lady Caroline.
This delightful paranormal mystery blends the cozy atmosphere of a historical academy setting with a touch of the supernatural. It is the perfect escape for readers who crave a lighthearted whodunit filled with witty banter, spectral secrets, and a dash of historical charm. If you are looking for your next obsession, join Miss Penny as she proves that when it comes to solving a murder, a little ghostly assistance goes a long way.

This was a fun cozy mystery. The main character talks to ghosts and her cat. I read the second book in this series last year (it's Christmas themed...) and enjoyed it. I'll most likely be reading the third book this year as well. )
