Lachlan Baird was promised a lifetime of happiness in his grand 1843 mansion, but a brutal murder turned his sanctuary into a spectral prison. For over a century, he has lingered within the walls of Baird House, a brooding ghost guarding his legacy and waiting for a soul who can see past the veil. He is not just a spirit; he is a man frozen in time, desperate for a connection that defies the boundaries of mortality.
Everything changes in 1993 when Beth Staples arrives, seeking a fresh start after years of selfless caregiving. What begins as a simple visit to a friend quickly spirals into an otherworldly encounter with an irresistible, seductive Scotsman who refuses to remain in the shadows. As Beth navigates the strange occurrences at Baird House, she discovers that Lachlan is more than a haunting presence; he is a man fighting for a love that refuses to die.
This atmospheric paranormal romance masterfully blends historical mystery with a modern search for belonging. It is a haunting, evocative tale of devotion that transcends the limits of the grave. If you are looking for a story where love lingers long after the heart stops beating, this timeless classic is your next obsession.

I've been in a slump lately and haven't found any romance novels that live up to my expectations, which got me thinking about books that I loved in the past. About fifteen years ago I picked up this book at Borders and fell in love. All I could remember was that it was a Scottish ghost story and what the distinctive 3D cover looked like. I typed that description in Google and found it, wahoo! It's lighthearted, romantic, has a unique story line, and is hard to put down. The ability to become...

I loved this book when I first read it 15 years ago and could not stop thinking about it, so I am glad I was able to find the ebook. The story of Beth and Lachlan is one of love that transcends time. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love and tries to get girl, girl falls under boy's spell. The wit and humor, as well as Lachlan's Scottish brogue brogue and cultural differences, add interest to the story. ) One person found this helpful

I just downloaded the Kindle version. So I am unsure of the amount of usual formatting/typos that is common in Kindle editions. I have the hardcopy book of Everlastin' -- there, it has a glossary of Scottish terms that she uses. She writes very well using the Scottish Brogue. I am a sucker for the Scottish and Irish Brogues so if a book will indulge me it is a plus. I liked the story as well, not just the accent! I thought that the characters were well rounded; especially since one is a ghost...

I loved this book so much that I purchased a 2nd one in large print so I can read it when I grow old. I'm not a person who reads paranormal books - ever, (this one is actually the only one) but Lachlan (the ghost) stole this gal's heart completely with his creative wit, determination, and tunnel-vision devotion for his heart's love, Beth. It was the first book that when I finished, I immediately turned to page one and read it again. Entertaining and enjoyable! ) One person found this helpful
