Attention all urban fantasy romance readers!
Prepare to be taken on a thrilling journey through the human and angelic worlds in the fourth installment of The Hali Saga. Watcher will keep you on the edge of your seat as we follow Jessa Roscoe, a young high-school girl who dies and goes to work for the Protector angels in Heaven. For fans of urban fantasy romance adventures and heart-pounding suspense, Watcher is a must-read!
In Watcher, Jessa Roscoe, living in a gritty industrial neighborhood of Chicago, finds herself caught in a dangerous love triangle with her boyfriend, Daniel, and his gangster cousin, Coz. When Coz and Daniel fight in their high school hallway, Jessa intervenes, pretending to favor Coz to save Daniel from a knife wound. But her actions have unintended consequences, leading to her own tragic death at the hands of Coz while Daniel only watches.
But death is not the end for Jessa. She arrives in a place called Hali, where angels learn to protect humans. As a Watcher-class angel, she quickly rises to the top of her group, eager to prove herself and earn a promotion to the coveted Archangel-class. But her excitement fades when she learns that to receive her promotion, she must save the life of her former boyfriend, Daniel.
Forced to keep her identity hidden from Daniel and battling old feelings for him, Jessa must navigate a dangerous plot to rob the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago. With an unknown angel undermining her efforts and her emotions clouding her judgment, Jessa must make a choice: save Daniel and secure her promotion or seek revenge for her own death at his hands.
For readers who enjoyed books like "City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare, "Watcher" offers a similar mix of action, romance, and supernatural elements. With a strong and relatable heroine and a gripping plot, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
First Chapter Sample
My God, life's beautiful. A warm smile spread across my tense lips as I folded the note into a perfect little square. I’m sure it wasn’t the best love note ever written. However, it felt like a different Jessa Roscoe moved the pen across the paper and chose the words. In other words, I thought I rocked it!
My smile widened as I reached into my lavender JanSport backpack, and then I panicked. My backpack had everything my life needed except the one thing I needed most now. I shoved my backpack across the car’s bench seat and squeezed my eyes shut. Where was that damn book? I took a nervous breath and watched the garage’s side door swing open. Mom stood in the doorway with a sly grin.
“Jessa?” Mom asked.
“Hey, Mom,” I said, fumbling with my key chain packed with keys and frequent shopper fobs from every store I’d ever been to, searching for the stupid car key.
“Did you forget something?” she asked, holding up my missing book.
My frustrated heart calmed, and I slid out of the car.
“I was looking for that,” I said.
“You ran out in such a hurry that you left it on the kitchen table. I thought it might be important.”
“It’s Daniel’s. I told him I’d give it back to him today.”
I reached for the book and dropped the folded note. Mom spotted it and smirked.
“I used to pass love notes in school, too,” she said, grinning.

Book four is where this series truly kicks into high gear! Taking a step back from our previous heroes to introduce Jessa was a bold narrative choice, but it pays off beautifully. Jessa's backstory in the gritty, industrial neighborhoods of Chicago provides a fantastic contrast to the ethereal realm of Hali. The emotional stakes in Watcher are higher than ever. Jessa is flawed, fiercely determined, and deeply relatable. Her internal conflict-choosing between securing her promotion to Archangel...

Jumping into Watcher, book four of the Hali Saga, felt intense from the very first page. It honestly didn’t even feel like the fourth installment — the energy is sharp, urgent, and completely gripping. This might actually be my favorite of the series so far. Jessa’s journey is heartbreaking and layered with tough moral choices. She’s strong but flawed, driven by justice yet wrestling with revenge and compassion. That internal struggle makes the story hit harder than expected. The love triangle...

Watcher the Hali Saga had me hooked from the start. The story focuses on Jessa, a young girl who dies and turns into her boyfriend's guardian angel. The world building in this book is phenomenal. I loved the magic system and the whole angel world was really mesmerising to read about. Jessa is a great protagonist who has to deal with a lot of intense moral dilemmas. This book was intense in the best ways and really had me thinking long after I finished the book. Looking forward to the rest of...

Some stories entertain. “Watcher: The Hali Saga Part Four” put me right straight into the storm and dared me to keep up. The tension in the story builds quickly, the stakes feel real, and the world carries that dark, electric energy urban fantasy fans like me look for. Characters face hard choices, shifting loyalties, and consequences that never feel small. The pacing of the story kept the momentum strong while the paranormal elements added depth and edge. This book doesn’t just continue the...

Jessa’s story grabbed me right away. The mix of Chicago street drama and angelic warfare shouldn’t work this well—but it absolutely does. Her death scene is brutal, and what follows in Hali adds depth instead of just spectacle. I liked that her mission isn’t simple; saving Daniel while wrestling with betrayal and revenge gives the story real weight. It’s fast, emotional, and layered. Great pick for urban fantasy readers who want action with heart. )
