The Manuscript is an extraordinary tale of love, faith, power and the battle between good and evil. It’s a humorous and engrossing read about a book that cannot be read.
Pandemic arrives from Asia and decimates medieval Italy. A selfless monk, mired in the suffering around him, labors in disguise to write a manual for mankind to guide them through the crisis. Centuries later, his book, now known as the Voynich Manuscript, makes its way to America and becomes a carefully guarded treasure at Yale University.
But there’s a catch: the notorious Voynich Manuscript is in a language unknown to mankind, defying all attempts at translation. A sinister secret society, determined to solve its riddles, ensnares an ordinary New Yorker, Emma Novak, in its plotting. Emma, an aspiring artist who has been unlucky in love, soon finds herself entangled in a romantic triangle with larger than life characters.
Set against the exciting backdrop of New York with all its charms, The Manuscript peers into a spiritual world usually hidden from view. This epic tale, spanning half a millennium, culminates in titanic forces revealing themselves in a high stakes contest for humanity.

The Manuscript is an extraordinary debut novel, written by the fresh, new writing team of journalist D. K. Hamlin and Concert Pianist Hyperion Knight. It is also a complex work of literary fiction, and one that defies classification. The Manuscript is at once an historical novel of the first order, rich in detail and well-researched, with sparkling prose recreating the the historic era of the Black Death in Europe with vivid imagery. Like COVID-19 today, the Black Death was a lethal pandemic...

I really enjoyed The Manuscript. It was fast paced, and I liked the combination of the story of a young, modern woman with an ancient document and all the cultural and historical references. Fun! ) One person found this helpful

A beautiful and nobly written blending of history, science, supernatural mystery, the arts, and romance. This novel tastefully delivers a tale of intrigue and relatable characters, while at the same time dropping tantalizing real-world facts and philosophies that inspires the reader to do further research. A clever story with just the right balance of humorous wit and skillful imagery, The Manuscript is definitely written in a language you can understand and will enjoy! ) 3 people found this...

This wonderful book has everything any reader could want from a novel: mystery, romance, historical references, humor, good triumphing over evil, fantasy - and lots of good old-fashioned entertainment - all about an ancient publication no one has been able to read. The characters are well-defined and very believable. I really grew to care about them. It's a terrific and very enjoyable read. I can't wait to see what these first-time authors come up with for their next novel. Kudos! ) 5 people...
