About this book

Love is the cruelest curse...

Jannus the Halfling is everything a Nephilim shouldn't be—golden-haired, charming, and a collector of feminine smiles. As the last living descendant of the only pure Nephilim Pair, he's powerful enough to claim the empty throne. Instead, he crosses into Fetch lands to bring Melek back to seize the crown.

But Melek's reappearance isn't trusted by all. As the Nephilim descend into civil war, Jann is saved in battle by Diadre—the infuriating, sharp-tongued Captain of the Shadekin assassins—and finds himself reluctantly beholden to a life-debt.

Diadre has spent her life proving she's just as deadly as any man. The last thing she needs is a cocky, silver-tongued Nephilim shadowing her every move. Yet when she touches him, something divine crackles between them.

Buried in this mission to help Melek and Yilan establish the Nephilim throne, Jann refuses to claim the matebond. His bloodline is cursed: every Nephilim like him died before their child reached five years old. If he loves Diadre, if they have a child, his fate is sealed.

But when the Nephilim around him decide that Jann doesn't want her, they're happy to take her, Jann will have to defy his curse, his people, and the Fallen themselves to keep her safe. Even if it kills him.

Dive into the next thrilling volume of The Kingdom of the Krow series, where enemies become lovers, curses clash with divine will, and a Halfling must decide if love is worth dying for.

Jann the mannnnnn!!!

June 26, 2025

THRILLED doesn’t begin to cover it when I found out Jann and Diadre were getting their own book in the series. Melek and Yilan were delightful in the first two, and laid the groundwork, but this book was definitely the best route to bridge some gaps and add perspectives that we may not have seen before. Jann is Melek’s second, and Diadre is Yilan’s second, so naturally we see the banter and sparks come full circle here. Jann is a half-ling, but there is nothing about this creature that isn’t...

My favorite so far

The King’s Man was the story I was so hoping we’d get—and it absolutely did not disappoint. Diadre and Jann are hands down my favorite duo, and every moment with them just reinforced why I love them so much. Their dynamic, chemistry, and emotional connection made this one a standout. Now I’m eagerly waiting for the grand finale to see how everything comes together ❤️ )

It’s getting so good. Love how Jann & Diadre got their story… definitely worth the read. Another great installment to this series! That ending though?!?! I can not wait tone what happens. )

compelling story

The plot to this is a great concept and the author writes well to draw you in. My only objection is the redundant and tedious love scenes that were well written the first 20 times but it’s every other page and I wound up skipping chapters just to get back to the story line. This author obviously has a thing for having her hair and neck grabbed. I swear every character in this series, starts their loving that way. After the 30th time it is like zzzz. Such a good writer shouldn’t have to cheapen...

Change of Characters

January 11, 2026

From the title I figured that this story would show more of Jann's value to the story, but this is actually a total shift in POV to Jann and Diadre's mission towards the larger goals as right hands of the crowns. It was fun seeing some side characters get the light. The repetitive nature of aome of the conversations have a level or realism as people often fight the same fights till they learn to have a middle ground together; but as a.reader it can drag out sections of the book at the sacrifice...
