And it’s oh-so-good. Without giving away too many spoilers (which should come as no surprise if you’ve read the first one), we have a captured Melek back in Yilan’s kingdom. SHE IS SOMETHING. And then we get to watch Melek’s internal battle as he comes to grip with his mate-bond and the fact that his mate is one big boss babe. This book is the pinnacle of suspense as you grapple along with Melek on how he’s going to approach his new relationship, in a new kingdom, with a new leader. It keeps...

The King Is Dead continued to pull me deeper into the series. I genuinely enjoy all of the characters, but this installment especially shines with its focus on Gall and Izzy, whom I adore wholeheartedly. Their story is beautifully written, emotionally engaging, and added so much heart to the overall narrative. Another strong entry that left me eager for more. )

I liked a lot about this book, and I liked the first book. But, as the book progresses, the characters seem to change in ways that violate the personalities they've established. In particular, the FMC becomes bizarre in the sex scenes, becoming whiny, clingy, and overly submissive. Gave me the creeps. The Christian mythology is underdeveloped and exists as a never ending reference to 'God's will' and God's plan' which felt like a real missed opportunity considering the richness of a fallen...

Let me start off by saying I can’t remember the last time I liked the 2nd book more than the 1st!!! I am blown away. I am most impressed by the ML being a layered, complex character. I feel like most of the time the MLs can be cold, 1 dimensional, and prop-like but Melek is a completely fleshed out individual character and equally a joy to read as Yilan. I LOVED the dual POVs here which I usually do not prefer. Another thing I typically don’t love is folklore/religion/mythology based stories...

I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say I LOVED watching all of the characters grow and change organically as events unfold. Melek and Yilan’s thoughts and feelings are sometimes volatile and raw, but honest at all times, which I value as a person and a reader.
