About this book

NOW IN DUAL POV AUDIO!

Yilan is a Fetch, a skilled female assassin and spy. As the powerful Nephilim sweep across the continent, slaughtering and conquering every nation in their wake, she is tasked with killing their legendary General, Melek Handras.

When Yilan infiltrates the Nephilim camp and allows herself to be captured by these violent creatures, she is brought face to face with her very large, very compelling target.

Melek is uneasy when the female Fetch so quickly surrenders her secrets in exchange for her life. But then the King makes him personally responsible for ensuring she does not escape.

Forced to keep the clever, deadly woman close, he quickly becomes familiar with her scathing humor, and cutting insight. He is forced to admit that Yilan is a woman capable of handling herself, even in his ruthless world… the kind of woman he finds disturbingly desirable.

But war does not wait. Soon, Melek must return to the battlefield to lead his warriors against her people—leaving Yilan in the hands of his brutal comrades who are hungry for nothing more than victory over an enemy.

Especially a very pretty one.

From the 1 bestselling serial author, Aimee Lynn, comes a heavenly new universe in which angels are the enemy, and a thief is the world's last hope.

fantastic fantasy romance

I love this book. First off the world and character development is thoughtful and well executed. The story is a true enemies to lovers! Each character is well rounded (even side characters) and you’ll love them or hate them. I fell hard for Melek and I hope you will too! Yilan is a strong FL and she is awesome. The magic system is clever and was new to me. Oh and the spice is so nice! Over all I hope you’ll give this book a try it’s a wonderful story and I can’t wait for book two! 5 ⭐️’s for...

compelling and original spicy storyline, packed with twists and emotional tension

⭐ Story: 5/5 ✍ Writing: 2.5/5 The King Has Fallen delivers an original, twist-filled spicy tale that captivates despite its flaws. Melek, general of the Nephilim army, serves a vile king, while Yilan, a captured Shadekin assassin, forms a surprising bond with Melek’s cognitively disabled adopted son. Dark themes, including SA, make for an intense but rewarding read. The story excels in its fresh take on popular tropes like enemies to lovers, found family, and the brooding male lead, but basic...

A tiny bit slow to start but then bam! Could not put down. What an incredible story, world build and characters I was invested in. Prefect proofreading absolutely no typos. )

Religion On Every Other Page, Basically

January 24, 2026

Great potential, until I realized that there were more religious references than actual storyline. I started off invested in Melek and, OMG, I just finished the book and can't recall the FMC's name... She started off strong, then somehow got weak, with a stubborn streak. I ended up being more aggravated then anything. I skipped over all of the religious parts. It was more than I'd like to admit. Of course, I didn't realize it until half way through the book but I should have figured it out with...

Good storyline with good characters who are having a hard time seeing each other clearly. They are meant to be together but the hero cannot let go of his past. Good read. )
