The Harlequin & The Drangùe (The Elioud Legacy Book 1)

by Liane Zane

About this book

In a dangerous hidden world of supernatural warriors, she may be the key to winning everything.

Olivia Markham lives a complicated life. By day, she is a star CIA officer working a cover as a graduate student in Vienna. By night, she is a self-appointed, kick-ass superhero wearing a harlequin's hood and wielding a wicked bō.

Life is about to get more complicated.

The sexual predator that Olivia tracks one July evening to Vienna's Stadtpark calls himself Asmodeus, a demon’s name. Olivia doesn’t care what he calls himself. She’s just there to save an innocent young woman. What Olivia doesn’t know is that Asmodeus has followers he calls bogomili after an ancient sect of believers. She suddenly finds herself fighting to save her own life against these vicious, soulless creatures whose mission is to release souls from the bonds of a corrupt world.

Across the Stadtpark another hears Olivia’s battle with the bogomili. He is a drangùe, a powerful warrior with supernatural abilities who is duty bound to save innocents from Asmodeus. This drangùe will stop at nothing to defeat his age-old enemy—even if it means risking everything to bring Olivia into his world. A world in which the drangùe has his own cover identity. He has good reason to distrust this beautiful young woman who hides secrets that could get him killed or worse.... But the drangùe must keep Olivia close in order to stay one step ahead of Asmodeus. The only problem is that the closer he keeps her, the more the drangùe wants to keep Olivia in his life. And that is not part of his long-term battle plans.

I love a good action romance. There is so much going on in this book...I had to read it twice (even better the second time). I enjoy re-reading books because it means I get spend time with old friends. Hello friends. ) One person found this helpful

Enjoyed this series very much. Romance with the twist of history and supernatural storylines.

Great H and h characters with interweaving stories of supranational and historical facts that catch your attention. The storylines are involved and well thought out, you do need to read them in order, but I loved the whole series. I'm also the kind of reader that will put a book down to search a fact, language or a location, so I did this alot with these. I also love to find myself smiling or frowning while reading, means I'm \"feeling\" the characters! It was inspiring to see the depth of...

Compulsively Readable, Well-Written, and Action-Packed

June 22, 2021

The Harlequin & the Drangue by Liane Zane is the first book in the Elioud Legacy series and the first one that I have read by this author. The author brings action, attraction, and suspense to a new urban fantasy / paranormal romance / supernatural thriller novel. The novel is largely set in Austria and Hungary, but also has some side trips to Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Olivia Markham leads a double life. She is a CIA officer based in Vienna. Her cover is a graduate student with an...

Great read!

This book reads like a cross between Mary Stewart and Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson novels and was truly a lot of fun. It's romance, action, and magic all rolled into one exciting, gripping, immersive paranormal romance. Others have summarized the plot, but I will say that I appreciated how the heroine was an action hero but also allowed to find her soul mate and fall in love. So many times, it seems like that's not the case. ) One person found this helpful

Harmonics Adjusted!

September 5, 2024

I greatly admire anyone who writes a book. This was a good story, but if I had to read about harmonics being adjusted one more time I thought I would scream! Enough, already. Please explain what Elioud and Drangue are at the beginning of the book. I had more questions about what terms meant and what was going on than usual in a book. The story could have been just as good without all the harmonics and limnus references. Three sexy CIA female Elioud (Charlie’s Angels) fight crime and evil Angels...
