A relic that rewrites truth.
An existential threat.
And a love that might not be real at all.
Bastien Durand, once an angel and now the most relentless supernatural investigator in New Orleans, thought the last crisis was behind him. But when a cursed grimoire surfaces at Rousseau Auction House—and a shadowy informant threatens the woman he loves—he’s dragged into a new game with stakes that are anything but routine.
The grimoire was bait. The real prize is an artifact known only in whispers—the Shadowglass Mirror, a relic said to reflect a soul’s truest nature . . . and the ability to bend it to someone else’s will.
The one orchestrating this? Gideon Virelli—a manipulative scholar who knows far too much about Bastien and Delphine’s connection, and her hidden power. Gideon doesn’t just want the relic—he wants Bastien to question everything he spent centuries protecting, including the tether that binds him to Delphine, the choices that built their love, and the very nature of the magic they were never meant to share.
To protect Delphine, Bastien must walk the knife’s edge between duty and doubt.
Because some mirrors don’t just show you who you are—
They show you the lie you’ve been living all along.

The goosebumps finally settled after finishing Curse in the Quarter. I thought that Charlotte might finally find peace knowing her city was protected. I thought that Charlotte Lacroix was put to rest of the past in New Orleans. I closed the book excited for Bastien and Delphine's future. I couldn't have been more wrong. The chills began while reading the prologue of Relic in the Rue. Someone is manipulating Sebastian, threatening to awaken every memory that Delphine carries. That person wants...

Relic in the Rue is the second book of the Bourbon Street Shadows Series and picks up right where Curse in the Quarter left us with Bastien and Delphine but with more twists and turns that I could ever anticipated. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The fact that this story is written by two authors and I can never tell is such a testament to their skill. Together Heidi and Amy weave such a perfect slow burn, paranormal romance mystery that left me feeling as though I had been...

𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐮𝐞 is the second book in the Bourbon Street Shadows series by Heidi McLaughlin and Amy Briggs, featuring the continuation of the slow burn paranormal romance and mystery set in New Orleans with Bastien and Delphine. When a trip to a relic auction throws everything Bastien is fighting for into jeopardy, he must face a new villain determined to undermine a soul bond, and some intriguing magical powers involving mirrors. I was not at all expecting these complex twists...

Relic in the Rue was somewhat of a hard read for me. Not because of the storyline, but because I haven't read the first book in the Bourbon Street Shadows series, and this is why I gave it 3 stars. This made it hard to understand certain aspects of what I was reading. I recommend reading the first book in the series, as it'll bring more enjoyment to Relic in the Rue. )

I am loving this series from these two authors. Relic in the Rue continues on from where Curse in the Quarter ended and delivers more twists and turns to keep readers guessing and right at the edge of their seats. I love this mysterious paranormal romance and all the unique quirks that comes with the Louisiana folk lore. I want to say so much, but all I will say is that I look at mirrors very differently now. This was so well written and you cannot tell that two different people wrote this...
