Magic is rising—and the old mage Houses are ready to reclaim the world.
Fire mage Kaye Brand is outcast from magekind, selling her magic to the highest bidder. She lives in wealth, conjuring faefire for humans to glimpse their future in her flames. But she's spending herself as fast as she spends money. Her power is precious in an uncertain world, and avaricious forces will do anything to control it.
Jack Bastian is a soldier of the Angelic Order, sworn to keep magic from destroying humankind. With Shadow's return, mage bloodlines are awakening and the ancient Houses are moving in secret. To stop them, Jack has no choice but to recruit the one mage willing to walk back into that world—Kaye, who will do anything for the right price.
Infiltrating the Houses together, Kaye and Jack face a past that refuses to stay buried. Kaye must confront Ferrol Grey, the ruthless mage she fled years ago—and the future she abandoned to survive. Working with Jack means risking everything she sought to protect, including her heart.
Bound by danger and divided by duty, Kaye and Jack are drawn into a forbidden attraction that could ignite a war between angels and magekind—and change the Shadow world forever.
Fire Kissed is a stand-alone urban fantasy romance and the first novel in the magekind spinoff of the Shadow Series, filled with dangerous magic, secret Houses, and passion forged in fire.

We're back in a world where Shadow is starting to spread over everything and danger is lurking around every corner. Practically. This time around we have an outcast mage and an angel who's not nearly as uptight as some of the other angels. Actually, it might be more like Jack is just...tired? Maybe? He's seen a lot in his long centuries and he now he sees war against the mages as inevitable. As it turns out, Kaye might be the only way the Order can gain an edge on the mages and he's planning on...

Oh my gosh, I absolutely read.this book in one sitting. It is just that good! Loved seeing old characters again! Would have loved to know more about what's going on after this book but I believe the original amount of books was 4 plus the 2 novellas. Really enjoyed the 2 main characters in this novel and the entire storyline. However, that being said I do recommend reading this series from the beginning so you, the reader, is not lost on the overall story arc. )

Light and dark. Good and evil. Traitors, lovers, angels and mate's, in the end the possibility of true love, happiness and a little magic saves the world, a man and a woman. Splendid book. A must read along with the rest of the shadow series. Don't miss it. )

The various beings in this series involve an amalgam of myth and fairy tale. Kellison creates her own mythology and brings worlds together in a very creative way. The characters are compelling, particularly the mysterious and powerful Shadowman. We meet and get to know Shadowman (\"Khan\") in the three previous books in the series (Shadow Touch, Shadow Fall, and Shadowman), and I would recommend reading them in chronological order for the best understanding of the interactions among the...

This started a bit slow but picked up with the brooding Jack and the firery Brand! I loved the play on names and the strange aliances. Shadow, angels, fae, mages and the unwary humans all conspire to make this an enjoyable read. I found myself rooting for Brand, what a twist at the end. Grey was truly soulless. This book was full of surprises. I look forward to the next book in this series. )
