Dragon Heat: Air Dragons, Book 1

by Charlene Hartnady

About this book

Azure has resigned herself - just like many of the infertile dragon females - to being single forever. She's okay with that. She does not need a male. There are many things that fulfill her. Things that she is passionate about; like her job as a hunter. What could be more important than feeding the tribe? Nothing! If she wants to hook up, she can have her pick of the males - just as long as she doesn't expect any of them to stay. They all want to settle with human females. Humans who can give them offspring...and give the tribe a future. It makes perfect sense to her. She's okay with it.

Her feelings change when she comes into heat for the first time. Why now? Why her? Instantly, every unmated male in her tribe comes sniffing. They all want her. They want to mate her and to get her with child. All. Of. Them. Anger infuses every last cell of her body. An anger she never knew she felt. Snubbed for years and now they want her. Now they see her. They can all go straight to hell!

Her king has other plans. The tribe needs offspring. They need female young, which is something the humans cannot provide. Thunder instructs her to choose a male...any male, and to do so right away. She doesn't have long before the end of her heat cycle.

Contains mature themes.

His mate, his future…

August 15, 2021

Will he let his chance pass … With the Program Series and the Bride Hunt and its sequels are my favorite. So I am much happy to be back on Dragon territory. Plus it was so good to have a change of heroes, and outside A Mate for Kai, there has been no other story starring a female dragon. She-dragons were not classically portrayed as nice girls, outside the elders or healers, they were more mean bitches than kind women. Threatened by the appeal the human females had on their males, it is not...

Azure and Ice

***POTENTIAL SPOILERS INCLUDED*** It seems that almost every couple Hartnady writes, ends up being my favourite. At least until the next couple! What gives Azure the edge for me is how she was fine with not reproducing. I get very excited whenever I stumble across a character that is childfree since the narrative for happily ever after too often includes children. That's not everyone's idea of happy. Although there is a bit of a cliffhanger with potential for Azure and Ice to have kids, so...

A Dragon's cycle of love.

August 27, 2021

I loved the story, it was amazing in that it featured the common problems of fertility and the changes in cycles. It also featured the sensitive topic of rape which was well done. The romance was also done tastefully with sensitivity for a female's feelings. Kudos to the author.😉😇 )

BAB finished first!

July 14, 2025

Wanting to be valued for who and what you are is every persons desire in a relationship. But in reality it’s the surface, the wrapping, what the other can get out of the relationship that draws them in in the first place. Often times the people of true value are over looked. What I loved about this story is they bring attention to someone of value that has been overlooked her whole life and show her what she already knew in her heart. She is a BAB and she need to own it and realize her worth...
