Trouble with the Cursed

by Kim Harrison

About this book

Rachel Morgan must keep her friends close—and her enemies closer—in the next Hollows novel from 1 New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison.

Rachel Morgan, witch-born demon, has one unspoken rule: take chances, but pay for them yourself. With it, she has turned enemies into allies, found her place with her demon kin, and stepped up as the subrosa of Cincinnati—responsible for keeping the paranormal community at peace and in line.

Life is . . . good? Even better, her best friend, Ivy Tamwood, is returning home. Nothing’s simple, though, and Ivy’s not coming alone. The vampires’ ruling council insists she escort one of the long undead, hell-bent on proving that Rachel killed Cincy’s master vampire to take over the city. Which, of course, Rachel totally did not do. She only transformed her a little.

With Rachel’s friends distracted by their own lives and problems, she reaches out to a new ally for help—the demon Hodin. But this trickster has his own agenda. In the end, the only way for Rachel to save herself and the city may be to forge a new understanding with her estranged demon teacher, Al. There’s just one problem: Al would sell his own soul to be rid of her. . . .

Reader Reviews

One of the best in the series!

July 6, 2024

I'm not the best best at writing reviews. This book was worth its weight in Hollows gold. From Rachel trying to give Hoodin the benefit of doubt to the cost of loosing AL this book is riveting all the through. No one is happier then I am that Kim Harrison has written more of her Hollows series. They are the best books she has ever written and I have read all her books. I hope she continues with this series for many years to come. When she originally brought and end to the series I was sad...

Great series

This book is fantastic. I would tell everyone to read the whole series. Each book is better than the last )

I just love Rachel Morgan! First read the first 6 books 17 years ago... Finally going to finish the series! Definitely a re- read more than once! )

OH MY GOD! I think I am still crying

Those last two chapters were horrific. But not in a BAD way, in the way that EVERY Kim Harrison fan hopes for, and we are RARELY if ever even kind of disappointed. The entire book was stellar, OF COURSE, but I literally had to take a couple hours off and do something else after the second to last chapter. Then I read the last chapter...Yep, almost killed me. If I hadn't taken a break, I might not be here to write this review. HOW can one woman have so many things in her brain that she can write...

Good story but drags

I love Kim Harrison's universe but it's starting to feel like she's writing more complex stories without added substance. This one could have been 100 pages shorter. And she references minor details in past books without context too much. There may be some that reread them all the time but not everyone does. )
