Not Your Ex's Hexes: Supernatural Singles, Book 2

by April Asher

About this book

For her entire life, Rose Maxwell trained to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council. Now that she’s stepped down, it’s time for this witch to focus on herself—and not think about her impulsive one-night stand with Damian Adams, a half-demon veterinarian who she can’t get out of her head, since neither of them is looking for a relationship.

But when Rose is sentenced to community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary, it becomes impossible for them to ignore their sparking attraction. A friends-with-benefits, no feelings, no-strings-arrangement works perfectly for them both. After a sequence of dead-end jobs, it’s not until Rose tangos with two snarly demons that she thinks she’s finally found her path. However, this puts Damian back on the periphery of a world he thought he left behind. He doesn’t approve of Rose becoming a Hunter, but if there's one thing he's learned about the stubborn witch, it's that telling her not to do something is a sure-fire way to make sure she does.

Working—and sleeping—together awakens feelings Damian never knew he had...and shouldn't have—because thanks to his ex's hex, if he falls in love, he'll not only lose his heart but also his humanity.

Such a Fun Read

March 1, 2023

What's it about (in a nutshell): Not Your Ex's Hexes by April Asher is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy about a female witch and a male demon who had loads of chemistry, yet each resolved to have no serious commitments. But love doesn't care about your resolutions. It will not be denied when it happens, and big declarations are a must. This is the second book in a series, but you can easily read it as a standalone. Reading Experience: Where do I begin? I loved this story. Sure, it made me cry...

The follow-up to Not the Witch You Wed, follows the middle Maxwell sister, Rose. Rose has no idea what she wants to do with her life, she planned to be the Prima, but since she stepped down and broke her bond agreement with the defunct European Alpha she knows she does not want to be in a relationship. She has her first and only one-night stand, and it happens to be the attractive Demon Vet former college roommate of her Elder sister’s mate. Damian owns a pet sanctuary in which Rose, and her...

Witchy fun with a little fairy tale curse and a hot demon vet

Okay I’m somewhere between four and five stars on this one, maybe 4.5? Rounding up? I’ve been in a weird headspace/book slump that’s not this book’s fault at all, so even though I started this book almost a month ago, I realistically read most of this over the course of 3-4 days (and I went days in between not reading/reading random stuff). All that aside, I was pleasantly surprised by this one in that I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Rose based on her appearances in Not the Witch You Wed, and...

A cute witchy romance

Not Your Ex's Hexes was a fun read featuring a romance between a witch and a half-demon. Rose Maxwell spent her entire life training to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council and now that she's stepped down, she doesn't know what to do with her life. To make matters worse she's sentenced to community service at the animal sanctuary owned by Damian Adams, the half-demon she had a one-night stand with and has been avoiding ever since. When Rose ends up tagging along with Damian on a...

Enjoyable

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is an enjoyable paranormal/UF romance. It is the follow-up to Not the Witch You Wed. I would recommend reading Not the Witch first due to the world building described in the first book. Not Your Ex’s Hexes feature a witch searching for her purpose in life and a half-demon veterinarian and former Hunter. The world is interesting with a variety of supernatural denizens. I didn’t connect to this book as well as Not the Witch You Wed. It lagged a bit and some of the more serious...
