About this book

When a zombie outbreak tears through the Containment Zone, Edie Brandstrup’s only goal is to survive. But her plan shifts when her unassuming neighbor, Gaston "Max" Boucher, reveals his true identity: a centuries-old, lethal vampire with a massive sword and an even bigger attitude. Forced into the cramped, high-stakes safety of his bunker, this unlikely pair must navigate an immediate, claustrophobic proximity that crackles with tension.

This gripping paranormal romance masterfully balances dark-romance intensity with laugh-out-loud, irreverent banter. As the duo uncovers a sinister government conspiracy, the dynamic between the resourceful, independent Edie and the fiercely protective, alpha-hero vampire evolves from a survival pact into a dangerous, soul-deep bond. Their chemistry is as sharp as Max’s blade, proving that even at the end of the world, passion can bloom in the darkest corners.

Perfect for readers who crave high-octane action alongside their swoon-worthy romances, this story delivers a relentless pace and unforgettable characters. As Edie and Max fight to prevent humanity’s extinction, they must decide if their burgeoning love is worth the ultimate sacrifice. If you are looking for a pulse-pounding, genre-bending escape, this is the addictive, witty, and blood-soaked read you have been waiting for.

So many zombies, so many well deserved stars.

I absolutely loved this book. It's my favorite book so far of 2025 and that's saying something, considering how many I've blown through so far this year and some by truly wonderful authors. I love all Olivia Dave's work. And All The Feels and At First Spite are favorites; and I don't know that I had any real expectations for her first foray into paranormal... but, Dade, you done outdone yourself. Spoilers lie ahead, so stop reading here if you don't want exposed to them. The zom is zomming--...

Macrame Underwear

Edie makes a living crafting and selling custom and unique soaps. She's one of the few living in her zone of the Containment Zone. And what is the Containment Zone? Oh, it just holds failed government/military experiments that twisted into violent, feral zombies. Oh yeah. Zombies. Not your run of the mill lumbering dead though. No, these zombies tend to run on all fours and are fast and vicious. And randomly spit words in French. Edie and Max the vampire team up rather reluctantly, at least at...

That was a rollercoaster. Edie is definitely a lot to take and Max was adorable. First time reading this author and I'm wondering if this is her writing style. Jokes and irreverent banter. Weird characters and weird interactions. Liked the different mythology of species. Born vampires and trolls that live in condos lol Lovely HEA but seems like it was a cliffhanger..? )

What if zombies and vampires, but also romantic comedy?

Olivia Dade may have asked herself, what if The Walking Dead had a baby with True Blood and it came out a rom com? What if fat women had post-apocalypse adventures and got the hunky vampire too? She may have asked herself those questions and then written Zomromcom. Dade opens with Edie going after a zombie with a burrito to protect her seemingly oblivious neighbor, Chad. Chad is not only not Chad, he is also not oblivious. He is a vampire named Max* and furious that Edie would try to protect...

4.5 ⭐️ This was a good book, although it jumps right into the story without much background. It fills in some of that later though, but we don’t get a ton of world building. That isn’t a huge issue though as the characters really carry the story. Edie is a soap maker who tries to save her neighbor Chad from a zombie attack I was a little confused at first about “Chad” and why he Max adopted that persona but it’s explained later. We learn that “Chad” is really Gaston Maxime “Max” and he’s been...
