Mateo Cruz is a werewolf on the brink of madness. Unable to shift for months, his inner wolf has become a chaotic, carnal voice in his head that refuses to be silenced. Desperate for a cure, he turns to the one person he was warned to avoid: a witch. Haunted by his own volatility, Mateo is a man fighting a losing battle against his primal instincts, making him one of the most tortured and magnetic heroes in modern paranormal romance.
Enter Evie Savoie, a sharp-tongued witch who knows the golden rule of her coven: never mix with werewolves. Yet, when Mateo stumbles into her life, the raw desperation behind his eyes proves impossible to ignore. What follows is a delicious slow-burn romance where the tension crackles with every interaction. As Evie works to untangle his curse, she realizes that Mateo’s wolf has set its sights on her, turning a professional arrangement into a dangerous game of desire.
If you crave a story that balances witty, snarky banter with deep emotional stakes, this is your next obsession. Juliette Cross masterfully weaves a found-family dynamic that makes the supernatural world feel warm, quirky, and incredibly immersive. It is a must-read for fans of steamy, high-stakes paranormal love stories.

LOVED THIS SO MUCH! I thoroughly enjoyed this delightfully witty and snarky and sexy paranormal romance about witches and werewolves. I finished this book right before I went to bed one evening. And let me tell you, I was in seventh heaven swooning dreamily over Mateo & Alpha right before drifting off to sleep. I would like ‘next time’ with Mateo please & thank you. Evie, a beautiful witch, is a hex breaker and Mateo needs her. A spell is cast on him that keeps his wolf trapped inside and makes...

You're going to love everything about this book.. all the way until the end. Mateo and Evie are the best friends to lovers trope you will ever read. Especially, if you need a break from the never ending enemies to lovers trope in the romantasy genre. Evie is so lovable and funny. And, Mateo is sweet and SMOLDERING. The spice level is definitely there with this one, very explicit. And the slow burn, burns just right 🥵 You're going to fall in love with the Savoie Family in general. I was looking...

I fell into this book at the best time. The book prior to this, I could not finish. This was the right level of quirky, supernatural and sweet. It’s a solid 4.8. Things it got right. Normally, ware wolves and their split persona turns me off. I figure if the wolf has been part of you your entire life, it’s an Extension of you. Not a second person in your head. Due to the curse, the split works well, and gives us a great comic relief. It’s also a great parody of the alpha male that is all sex...

3.75 stars Werewolves and vampires and witches, oh my! I really enjoyed this. It was a fun light read, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. If you're looking for something with witches and other supernatural creatures, set in New Orleans with a quirky fmc this would make a great read. Pros: - Fun, flirty, and fast-paced - Unique and well-rounded characters - Interesting premise - Friends to lovers trope - Sets up the world very well, I want to learn more about the rest of Evie's...

The subtitle was not joking about this being a slow burn. I ma’am, you obviously know it’s going to end well, but the author definitely asked for a lot of patience. And that patience was definitely rewarded. Mateo is an artist but he is also a wolf-shifter. He’s been living his life in New Orleans but it’s gotten more challenging lately because he’s not able to shift. If a wolf is not able to shift, the blood lust from his animal side starts to take over and wreaks havoc. He needs to find a hex...
