The War of Two Queens: Blood and Ash, Book 4

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

About this book

War has arrived, and it is far more brutal than anyone dared to imagine. As the Blood Queen’s unthinkable treachery comes to light, Casteel Da’Neer faces a reality where even his cunning is tested. Meanwhile, Poppy Balfour is no longer just a maiden seeking answers; she is a force of nature fueled by the desperation to rescue her King and dismantle an empire built on lies. With the fate of two kingdoms hanging in the balance, the lines between ally and enemy blur, demanding sacrifices that reach deep into the soul.

This installment in the Blood and Ash series masterfully blends high-stakes urban fantasy with the dark allure of vampire-adjacent lore. As the narrative unfolds, the tropes of forbidden royal romance and ancient prophecy collide with visceral, large-scale warfare. Readers are swept into a world where historical weight meets supernatural intensity, forcing Poppy to confront the terrifying truth of her own identity. She must decide if she is willing to embrace her dreaded destiny as the Harbinger of Death and Destruction to secure a future for those she loves.

Prepare for an addictive, emotionally charged journey that redefines the stakes of this epic paranormal romance. Whether you are drawn to the complex power dynamics of courtly intrigue or the raw, primal chemistry between its leads, this chapter delivers a relentless pace that will leave you desperate for the next revelation. It is an unmissable evolution for fans of epic, supernatural sagas.

Reader Reviews

I read all four books in 4 days and I am highly considering doing it all over again:)

March 23, 2022

I'll start with no spoilers: Effin fantastic! As my title says I just spent the last 4 days doing nothing but reading this so far four part series. I loved them all for the attention to detail and the characters development over time. I knew going into this one (I bought the Kindle version as there was no way I could wait until May for hardcover lmao) that it had mixed reviews. In my personal opinion I found it all enjoyable and don't agree with others saying not to read it, each reader has...

Good follow up to the series

March 30, 2022

If you are reading this review, you'll probably have read some others and already know there is a lot of criticism about this book. I am disappointed with the readers behaviour. Everyone is entitled to like or dislike the books. What is not right is to disrespect people who may like them, let alone the writer. This series is not a masterpiece of fantasy literature, but it entertains a lot and accomplishes all the goals it sets out to. It also demonstrates hard work and commitment by Jennifer L....

Probably the best book of the series so far

March 18, 2022

This review will contain spoilers for both this book and the previous books in the series. Up until this point, the second book in the series, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, was my favorite book in the series. However, I'm fairly sure that The War of Two Queens has nudged it out. Probably. I'm still pondering but, ya'll, it's close! Can we please start with Poppy's character growth because that was beautiful. In the third book I had issues with her because she was growing and changing and I just...

I Absolutely Love this Book - Don't Give the Haters the Time of Day

March 22, 2022

THIS REVIEW IS NOT SPOILER FREE This is a worthy successor to the four books before and while answering a lot of questions, opens just a many more. What/who is Callum? Will Malik and Milly get together? What’s going on with Tawny? What does the Gods waking up mean for the kingdoms? Is the Rot back? Those are just a fraction of the so many questions I have. What a wild, intense, emotional ride. I loved every bit of this book and can’t wait for the next one. Thoughts on poor reviews First, my...

You can’t please everyone, and yet this book displeased everyone

March 18, 2022

I never expected to give this book any less than 5 stars I cannot express how much I LOVED the first 2 1/2 books of this series. I devoured them and they occupied my very thought for weeks after finishing them. This series reignited my passion for reading that had been dormant for over a year. But it hurts me that this book had so much potential and in my opinion fell short. SPOILERS Why I couldn’t live this book: It really started in the third book but became even clearer in this one how damn...
