Deep within the gritty, neon-lit underworld of Caldwell, New York, the Black Dagger Brotherhood faces its most treacherous challenge yet. For fans of high-stakes urban fantasy, this installment delivers the perfect blend of visceral danger and the intense, soul-searing passion that has made this series a global phenomenon.
The narrative shines brightest through its exploration of the found-family trope, showcasing the fierce loyalty that defines these warriors. As the shadows lengthen and the stakes reach a breaking point, the brothers must confront long-buried secrets that could shatter their world forever. J.R. Ward masterfully balances pulse-pounding action with the raw, emotional vulnerability of her protagonists, creating a reading experience that is as addictive as it is heart-wrenching.

DISCLAIMER: I tried not to include any outright spoilers but you might be able to infer what happens if you read this, so if you want to go in completely blind you may not want to read my review until after you’ve read the book. “How else would a male love a female of worth like you but wholly. Completely. And without a single regret.” I’d venture to say that this was probably one of the most romantic of all of the BDB books to date. I’ve been interested in Trez & Selena’s relationship since...

The Good…: J.R. Ward finally delivered the book I’ve been waiting for! Not only did the 13th book in her ever-popular The Black Dagger Brotherhood series hit stores this past Tuesday, but it lacks the narrow focus so many of her other novels in this series have had. In the past BDB books, there was always one main story surrounding the romance of one of the main characters, usually a member of the BDB, a secondary story of another main character, and a tertiary story with one of the BDB’s many...

I'm experiencing way too many emotions right now to be able to articulate just what I feel for this story. So my review will come upon my re-read of this book... As you can see from my rating, I did love this one though.. ..... Okay. So I've taken my sweet time for writing this review. I'm gonna try to articulate my feels for this book... FINALLY I could say.. *YES!!!* again, when it comes to a BDB book. I've been wanting the Shadows' story since I've been introduced to them so I was happy they...

I've been a huge fan of the Shadows since they were first introduced into the BDB canon. Mysterious, sexy, and intriguing, Trez and iAm have been gaining a presence over the past few books, so I was very excited when I found out the next book was going to focus on them. And, having finished it, I have to say I did enjoy it immensely and I do feel as though I got to know the brothers well. For that reason, I would've given the book 5 stars. I'm not going to waste words on recounting the plot,...

I rarely post reviews. I rarely reread a book right away. I have reread this one 4 times now. Spoiler alert!!! I cried and cried each and every time. I love HEAs. This book really did NOT have one for the main characters. The contrast between their ending and the other relationships around them is evident and noticed by all. I had a heads up beforehand when I read the author's note about it on Good Reads, so the end was not a surprise. That was probably a good thing. I do NOT like sad books. I...
