Oraya is a human living in a world built on the blood of her kind. As the adopted daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, she has spent her life perfecting the art of survival. To escape her status as eternal prey, she enters the Kejari, a brutal, high-stakes tournament hosted by the goddess of death. In this arena, the only thing more dangerous than the vicious warriors surrounding her is the realization that she cannot win alone.
She is forced into a volatile alliance with Raihn, a ruthless rival vampire who represents everything she has been trained to fear. This is a quintessential enemies-to-lovers tale, masterfully blending dark romance with the high-tension politics of deadly vampire courts. As the competition pushes them to their limits, the line between strategic partnership and forbidden passion blurs, threatening to destroy everything Oraya holds dear.
Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Jennifer L. Armentrout, this gripping paranormal read is packed with bloodthirsty intrigue, lethal magic, and emotional stakes that will leave you breathless. If you are searching for your next obsession, prepare to be consumed by this dark, addictive world where love is the most dangerous weapon of all.

Let me start out by saying that I'm super picky and have zero problem not finishing a book. But this one was able to keep me engaged all the way through. I read it quite fast compared to how I normally do. I'll be giving the next book a try. My biggest complaint is that the reviews made it seem like it's enemies to lovers, but it really isn't. Unless there's more betrayal to come in the next book. I'm a huge fan of enemies and lovers, as well as morally gray MMCs. It's pretty much all I read...

I hadn’t even heard of this book when I was offered a review copy, but a few glowing reviews caught my attention and I agreed to read it. And I’m so glad I did! This was a wonderful surprise, a dark, dangerous, vampire tale with intricate world building, great characters and a little bit of spice. Even better, this is the first book in a series, and I’m so excited to see what comes next. Yes, there are some familiar tropes at work here, but I found the combination of all the different elements...

Re-read July 23 2025 Ok I was crazy. This is totally a 5⭐️ read for me. I loved revisiting the characters and picking on little Easter eggs for future books. This series is golden. Initial Review Jan 3, 2025 ⭐️ 4.5 🌶️ 2 Language: strong SPOILER FREE Wow what a wild ride. This is a fast paced fantasy that takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, but one species clearly has the upper hand. I devoured it over less than 48 hrs. Some twists were predictable and others I didn’t see...

his was my first book by Carissa Broadbent and I was very impressed with what I read. I always love a strong female character overcoming huge obstacles and learning what a powerful person she really is. I also really like a good love story. Fortunately for me this had both of those things and added bonuses, Vampires and a deadly Contest! All of those boxes ticked! Oraya was an interesting character, a human adopted by the Night King and living in his dangerous and dark palace. Vincent, the...
