Rule number one: Guild above everything. Rule number two: Hunt or be hunted. Rule number three: Stay away from the demons locked in the basement. For Max Bentley, a rookie hunter raised in the shadows, these laws are the only things keeping the world from collapsing into chaos. But when a routine mission spirals into a deadly mystery, Max finds herself trapped in a forced-proximity nightmare, tethered to the four most dangerous, brooding men in the Protector Guild.
This gritty urban fantasy series masterfully blends high-stakes demon hunting with a slow-burn tension that is impossible to put down. Max is the quintessential sunshine to her team’s grumpy, enigmatic exterior, creating a dynamic that crackles with friction and undeniable chemistry. As she unearths the dark secrets buried within the Guild’s history, she must decide if her loyalty belongs to the organization that raised her or the men who are slowly dismantling her defenses.
If you are looking for your next addictive paranormal romance, this trilogy delivers a perfect storm of mythological threats and heart-pounding passion. With shocking plot twists that demand you keep turning pages, it is a rollercoaster of supernatural intrigue where the fate of humanity is just as precarious as Max’s heart.

Max is an orphan taken in along with another later, her brother Ro. To be raised in the forest by Cy and trained to fight to be protectors. Now, when Max and Ro are attacked in town and a mysterious letter arrives, Cy up and moves them to a guild. That's where this all gets interesting. I love a good fantasy story with various mythological creatures. There's loads of mysteries to unravel, fun characters to follow, and I'm glad I read it through. I rated it a 4/5 because I actually couldn't stand the main character. The main character is 18 \"soon to be 19\". I appreciate the consistent characterization and the fact that the characters don't magically mature overnight but as with many fantasy novels, the character has the maturity of a 13yr old, the bad*ssery of a trained...

I don’t even have words for what I just read. I thought I was going to end up quitting this book halfway but instead it got more and more juicer. So many times I was like WHAT!!!! IT CANT BE. Lots of questions I have. Who is max? Where did she come from? the cliffhangers are VERY CLIFFY. So I can’t wait until I start the next book!! Max is def a quirky character but you def learn to love her. And the potential love interest 👀👀 yummy is all I can say. Now off to the next book I go 🫡 ) One...

This is a lot of fluff and very little action for three books. It doesn’t really pick up until the last half of book three. Plus the FMC is the whole, I would rather have vegetables than chocolate. Come on. The side characters are the best part, but it is dragging on way too long. )

Okay, I FLOVED this story. I couldn't put it down. The action, mystery, budding romance, and made family were absolutely perfection. If you want a strong FMC with unknown roots and a bit of rambling. Add in action, mean girl drama, all with a slow burn. This is the series for you. ) One person found this helpful
