Taken by Touch and Torment: Eternal Obsession, Book 2

by Maggie Sunseri

About this book

Scarlett has spent her entire life being scorned, but as a newly turned vampire, she is no longer the victim. Trapped in a nightmare of manipulation and cruelty, she discovers that her own dark powers of seduction are the only weapons she has left. Rune, the man who has stalked her from the shadows, is now the source of both her torment and her obsession. As she embraces her newfound wrath, she begins to transform into something the ancient, born vampires never expected: a force of pure, lethal vengeance forged from sin and blood.

Rune is equally ensnared, torn between his duty to a clan on the brink of collapse and his insatiable hunger for the woman he calls his Little Flame. In a city of warring vampire clans, the tension is suffocating, and the stakes for their survival have never been higher. As their fates collide, they must navigate a dangerous game where love and obsession are indistinguishable, and one wrong move could lead to total annihilation.

This gripping conclusion to the Eternal Obsession duet masterfully blends high-stakes paranormal romance with deep, emotional intensity. Featuring the turned-newborn trope and a compelling found-family dynamic, this dark vampire tale is perfect for readers who crave raw, atmospheric storytelling. It is an addictive journey through shadow and desire that proves some obsessions are truly eternal.

Reader Reviews

Dark, mentally and emotionally.

March 13, 2025

This series does contain a Ds dynamic, however I will say (as part of the community) the actual kink is not particularly dark. HOWEVER, the abuse of kink and kink as abuse, trying not to spoil anything (not MCs), is plentiful and heavy. IF you have sexual, or mental abuse, trauma I would highly recommend speaking to someone whose read this first, as even the trigger warnings weren't adequate (no fault on the author, there's just no TWs specific enough for the depravity of the villains). There's...

Amazing Story!

It was a great sequel to one of the best books I've read this year. It wasn't as good as the first book (mostly due to the long torture scenes), however the story ended nicely and I adore their love story! Scarlett is a favorite FMC of mine... her resilience and power is so beautiful and unique! I will say be cautious if you don't like torture because the FMC goes through a very hard time for the first half of the book. I would have preferred if this was shortened or sometimes not so drawn out...

Great Conclusion!

Overall: 4.75/5 Plot: 4.75/5 Spice Level: 3/5 Recommended: Yes This was such a great conclusion to the Eternal Obsession duet! I absolutely loved the first book, and since that ended on a cliffhanger I had no choice but to jump straight into this one. A lot of other reviews felt there was too much time spent on the impending war and political subplot, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of the planning and scheming! Watching Scarlett grow from being at her lowest to being a total badass was perfect....

Dark and Suspenseful Story

September 29, 2024

So I gave this story a 3 because I found this book had more elements of a suspense adventure story than a romance - at least more than the first book. For much of the first part, the main characters were apart. For me, I don’t like romance novels with the main couple separated for large portions. I totally understand why that was needed and required, but that is why I view this as more of an adventure/drama book than romance. There was still lots of romance and passion in the book, but the...

Proceed with caution!

4⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 1st person dual POV Taken by Touch and Torment was dark, brutal, and definitely heavier than book one. So even if you survived the first book, check those trigger warnings again for this one. I repeat, check the trigger warnings!!! This installment shifts focus away from romance a bit and leans more into Scarlett’s growth, revenge, and self-discovery, which I actually really appreciated. Watching her fight through everything thrown at her and grow into who she’s meant to be was...
