Remy Pendergast is an outcast among the elite Reapers of Aluria, a man whose lineage is whispered about in dark corners and whose father views him as little more than a necessary weapon. As a bounty hunter tasked with purging rogue monsters, Remy has spent his life believing the line between humanity and the undead is absolute. However, his rigid worldview begins to fracture when a virulent new plague, known as the Rot, threatens to dismantle the kingdom from the outside in.
To combat this rising horror, Remy is forced into an uneasy alliance with an unlikely pair: the compassionate vampire heiress Xiaodan Song and her arrogant, enigmatic fiancé, Lord Zidan Malekh. This high-stakes investigation pulls Remy deep into the treacherous web of vampire courts, where political maneuvering is as lethal as any blade. What begins as a mission of duty quickly evolves into a dangerous dance of desire and shifting loyalties that defies everything he was raised to despise.
Perfect for fans of gritty, atmospheric fantasy and spicy paranormal romance, this story masterfully blends court intrigue with a slow-burn polyamorous connection. It is a dark, decadent, and deeply queer epic that challenges the boundaries of love and monster-hood in a world teetering on the brink of collapse.

Well written, engaging characters, maybe a bit heavier than necessary with the sex scenes—but it was easy to care about the characters and that makes for an enjoyable read. )

As described and came in good condition. Really like the cover and the presented plot so hopefully the story is just as good! )

Oh, how I wanted to love this book. It was just...fine. Definitely gory, but also oftentimes utterly confusing. Funny enough, my library copy billed this as a romance - there is romance and some spicy moments, but the book is not a romance nor is it very romantic. The banter is incredible and I was intrigued by the Bridgerton-Castlevania-esque society but with warring vampire courts. But it was a slow burn with all of the major plot points - and not in a good way. The best parts of the book...

I had a lot of fun with this fantasy novel. Queer vampires initiate a throuple with a rock-headed human familiar, who happens to be a son of a duke in a medieval world where humanity is at war with the undead. I only dabble in fantasy, so forgive me for making a cliche comparison to Game of Thrones, but yeah, it definitely has a substantial component of the same sort of plotting, backstabbing, and political intrigue that made that text fun. I also appreciate that the love story (it's mainly a...
